A response would be nice to this latest tune, if not it would be like shaving without mirror.

Well ok, but be warned I try to be as honest possible, otherwise I’m just wasting our time so…

It’s pretty good and if it was recorded live then that much more credit. At exactly 1.00 in the vocals get a little week with the “with you” part, they are plenty strong at 2:13, at 2:32 some note searching. Normally if I thought someone was incapable I would find a polite way to say that, but this isn’t the case. So in my opinion its strictly a matter of practice. The guitar in the background gives it an older dire straits type of sound, the key choices at the end solo are off slightly. I’m not talking about aptitude or skill, just the choice for what was played by the guitarists at 3:12-3:14 for the end solo. The rest of that from 2:50 on was really great as well as the opening in the very beginning. Overall excellent playing. I heard a slight choke from the drummer at one point, but he recovered quickly enough and it’s a pretty long song. It’s the only thing I could find to fault.

In the song the “burning desire” part, sounds like a direct grab from Morrison. Whether intentional or not, it seems a little cheap and would be better without the reference. The sound you have is working pretty good, so why use it? I really like the change at 1:49, breaks it up nicely. The guitars and drums should be a bit louder. If the mix was a little more level then the vocals wouldn’t be magnified so strongly.

Overall a pretty good and sounds like vintage rock. The vocals need a little work, but it’s nothing bad. Everybody gets defensive and panics when someone says this, but it needs to be said. While being performed live it will be a lot less noticeable as it is, with me just listening intently over and over again. You hit a bad note at a bar and it’s gone a second later, few people will notice, where I’ll hear it on the next play and know it’s there waiting.

It does have a vintage rock sound to it. It’s unusual that it fits your preferences (Southern rock meets the Brits) almost perfect and carries a unique tone. Let me know if you get up around my neck of the woods.

Kind of remindes me of some early Alice Cooper without the dark lyrical content. Your Bass does not stand out the way I would prefer. At a few points the vox seemed strained or weak. I liked the song don't get me wrong here. I critisize my own material a lot harder.

I liked the tune.Reminiscent our great time in music 25 yrs ago.*(to me anyway ).Yeah, through my near fields, I thought the vocals were too "verby" makin those mids make it kinda run together.Ill tell a good effect to use to make vocals "jump out at ya" and have sheen and presence with out verb and delay , is an effect called pan /expand ..Makes it kinda like a "surround sound " effect..Ill agree with SANS in that the bass though present, coulda stood a wee bit more bottom (100HZ)..Now I thought the drums were a good level in the mix...

Very catchy tune. The chours especially was good. Guitars seemed out of place, in the sense that it sounded like many of the guitar adlibs could have been keyboard adlibs. Mixed and arranged properly, I could see that hitting the charts.

I'd work on the the guitar tones a bit if it were mine.

That chord progression just does me in, in that it seems too overdone.

Don't mean to sound harsh about it. Just ain't my thing, I guess. Maybe if it were a screamo & real fast? That night update it. Otherwise it just seems cliche to me.

KIDD and Kramerguy, thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, every suggestion helps a lot, hopefully I’ll be able to translate those advices into better recordings which is an area where I need to improve quite a bit, this is a realization that jumps at me when I listen to yours and other’s music on this board.

Kidd’s observation as to the period that the song reflects (25 years ego) is accurate, it seems that musically I’m stuck in a time warp baby boomers can relate I think, I’ve tried my hand with some more contemporary sounds and tunes but it’s a struggle and I’m not confident
enough to post them.

Kramerguy, your idea of replacing guitar adlib with keys is an interesting one, I should try it if I could get hold of my friend Dave an excellent keyboard player, but he plays with the Jersey outlaw (a Country band) and his band's schedule keeps him away from me, I play a bit of keyboard but not good enough to do it myself.

Philbymon you are not being harsh, to use an analogy music is much like food if one doesn't like the taste it won't be consumed, this happens to the best recording headliners as well. Thanks for your input.
