Hello all,

I am trying to find a good interface for my old school Roland v-drum set and Yamaha ex5 keyboard. Guitar Center suggested the m-Audio 410 Firewire and that's fine except it is kind of pushing my budget ($300) considering my recording exploits are really just for fun. I just came across this while trying to find something more affordable.

The description only mentions guitar and bass recording. Does that mean I would need something else to record my keyboard? If so can anyone recommend some other interface that I can use to record on my PC tht won't break the bank?

You can get them on ebay for $100.

It comes with Cubase LE for PC recording and editing. Plus it can also be used as a live mixer.

You can check out a couple of my recordings to see how it sounds. Burn was done in a studio. Carpal Tunnel, Throw the Hammer, and The Cleansing were done with the Alesis.

I use an maudio delta series but considering that both the devices you are using are midi friendly... I'd say go buy a joystick to midi cable at the local gtr center ($20) and yer set. (this plugs into the "joystick" port on most sound cards that come w the computer and the midi ports on either the keyboard or drum brain - or chain them together) the advantages to midi are a plenty...for one it takes very little drive space to record it, for two you can adjust the tempo later, for three you can individualize each drum hit to tracks (ie move the snare to it's own track - this is great for adding effects only to the snare), for four you can change the sound you are using after you record. Now, the downside is that you can't record a vocal or anything, and depending on yer gear midi can "loose" some of the nuances of yer playing... (given the fact that you have the greatest drum brain on earth you should be ok). If you would like to go this route and need help getting set up let me know: I'd be glad to lend a hand.
