Thiswas one of the best 4th celebrations I have had in a while. Free food, Live band (us) probably $500.00 worth for fireworks at a small private party. Friends & family aged new born to 80. Played with my grandson at my feet. I will try to down load a pic but yall know I'm an idiot so stand by. Image

George,

Great Idea and cool photo!

(I thought you augmented the band to a sextet. I only see four. Don't tell me ya' fired em already!)

I'm also concerned that you have been spending too much time reading and not enough time playin'! What kind of sound do ya git outa' that sheet of paper?

anyways,

Crappy weather in my neck of Penn's Woods means that most folks are holdin' off celebrating until today.(Saturday) Looks like the sun is shinnin' for now.
None the less, The Gin House Rockers are gonna' set up in our drummer (Porkchops) 's back yard and rock and party all day! Maby we'll get a decent recording to post. (can't say what the music will sound like, but it is gonna be loud!....

Cin is yellin' to come get ready, so I gotta go.

later....

Yor ol' patriotic pal.
Howlin' Jonny

Pan to the right. I'm over there showin off my legs! The taller man next to me is Tony. One of my Kung Fu buds and all around great guy. He is the 5th, to sing back up. He came despite having only 2 practice sessions. The young man who will be doing keys had a prior engagement. We really had not worked either one into the set yet.

We played over an hour and a half. Most of the songs Tony had not even heard before. That takes some guts.

Awesome.... I wish I had a 4th of July gig... I just ended up baking in the sun and eating salsa and drinking this blue alcoholic concoction!

Did my family reunion on the 4th and played an hour with my band, Blackwater Junction on the 5th. I'm reviewing the video now and hope to get some photos up soon. :D

Rained here Fri nite. Still, some folks did some fireworks. I went & watched but didn't take any pics cuz my digital camera is too fragile to get wet.

There were a bunch of fireworks displays Sat nite, but I stayed home to watch the UFC fights. My wife really loves them.

I went fishing yesterday. I think it's my new passion. I'm starting to catch stuff now - even on lures! WHEEEEEEEEeeeee!

Thanks Bob, for the tips!

No big parties this year - at least none that I heard of. (Maybe ppl quit inviting me after that incident when I tried to mate the emu with the alpaca - but that's another story!) No musical events, other than the usual concert at Antietam, which they do every year but I always manage to miss, dammit!

Joseph, what do you use to do your vidio? I have a digital recorder, an older one that records in the HI 8 format but the sound is atrocious.

Philby, I cant watch UFC anymore, I miss the cage and it just pisses me off. My Doctor told me I was killing myself by not working out anymore after all those years of daily training. Got to find something I can compete in at my age.

Crip, thanks man it's usually you with the gigs going on not me 8) Avatar looks fine on my end.

My girlfriend bought some little JVC camcorder from a pawn shop...picture quality is great, but the sound is weak (maybe that was just us!! )

Taekwondo? :)
Long distance running?

I had a sony handicam that did Hi8 or Digital 8. I thought the sound was the best thing about it. Crystal clear. But... any camcorder type device is gonna sound junky for live music. At least any one that I've heard.
Gotta film it and record it from the board, then sync the audio and video up.

And oh yeah... I been fishing three times now this summer and havent caught a thing. :(

Went to see fireworks in Monroe, lame one man acoustic act when we got there, everything sounded just like the previous song, we were tired of it after 3 songs. Next band was from my town, 3 piece contemporary hard rock, not exactly my style of stuff but a very good band. Guitar player was running a Bogner head and 2x12, nice sounding amp and about 8 or 9 pedals mounted in a good board. Bass player was a good player and did a great job on lead vocals, drummer was very good too and had a simple one tom tom set. Tight band, good sound, rarely more than 15 seconds between songs and no doodling around either, overall a good band.

Started sprinkling just as they got their gear half off the stage (2 flatbeds) so I helped get the rest moved and told the guitar played if I see them again I want to see the Gretsch come out. Then it POURED on us...got soaked, but they did the fireworks in the rain anyway.

Oh the Gretsch...late 50's to earloy 60's Country Club, tobacco sunburst, his grandfather gave it to him. Gorgeous axe, he keeps it tuned down for one song they do (All originals too) but they didn't play it that night. Yeah I was drooling...

All in all a pretty good night - well after the guy with the acoustic finally left...

I went up north to East Tawas on Lake Huron. Spent all day at the beach, returned to the hotel and was having a drink in the tiki bar and met the two-person acoustic act they had there. I had brought my guitar so they asked me to do a set. I played some Hendrix, Neil Young, BNL, etc and then let the girl use my guitar while I went to dinner (she had busted a string on hers). Then we watched fireworks underneath the American flag. Awesome!
