OH, my gosh! I just found your website, listened to your music, etc.
Your music reminds me of background music for billion dollar movies, Renaissance Festivals, and Hearts of Space. You must be a very calming spirit, very intelligent, creative. I see you are American. Were your parents born in Germany?

You are the VERY FIRST PERSON who has ever held my attention this long via the Internet.
Angelina

P.S.--Do you belong to that Irminsul religion, or that's the name of your Celtic harp? What's your real name? Do you have children?

Wow, what nice compliments - thank you very much!

Yeah I'm a Utah kid, was born in Salt Lake City. My folks lived for a time (about 11 years) in Germany. I used to go visit them fairly frequently when they were there, which meant at one time my German wasn't too shabby. Now it's horrible! :(

Got no kids, but I do have two cats! (They are Siamese which almost counts as being as troublesome as humans). My name here (Irminsul) is actually my legal name since I changed it about 15 years ago. It is AngloSaxon for "The World Tree" and you guessed right, it is a Pagan idea. I have been a Pagan for about 20 years and picked up that name from my community here in SLC, back in the earlyt days. It stuck so I made it official.

The harp definitely came to me as part of my spiritual practice. It's so tied up in Celtic/Gaelic culture that its hard to ignore really. I'm just surprised I don't run into more players, especially men. They seem to gravitate more toward guitars ;)

I don't know if you noticed, but there were three posts I wrote to you.
Did you read the other two? (bottom of page two)

I have an idea for you--just an idea. Have you ever heard of Branson, MO? I do believe you could have your own show there, seriously.
There is a guy from Austria who plays two babygrand pianos simultaneously. Behind him are these colored "waterfalls" that move and sway to the music. He has his own show.

I may have The Learning Castle show also in Branson, MO. I visited there last year and briefly spoke to a representative at the Chamber of Commerce. The town is growing physically and also in popularity so quickly. There are so many opportunities there. I'm actually going there very shortly to record music. I found a guy there who looks like Billy Crystal named "Mitch" and he has this awesome recording studio in his home. He's actually a builder (contractor). And the first home he built in this expensive subdivision in Arkansas was his own. (Arkansas is a hop and a skip from Branson, MO) The basement level is where he has his studio, which looks like something out of Star Wars. I really enjoy recording with Mitch. At regular studios, they don't seem to care. He did a job as good as Jud used to do, in fact, maybe better. He also plays drums, guitars, and keyboards, so between his skills and mine, we laid down the tracks with ease. Unfortunately for me, I have to drive all the way to MO to get recording done. The studios here in Gainesville are a complete joke and a complete waste of time. Finding Mitch was like finding a needle in a haystack, so if it takes driving three days once a year to MO to get quality recordings accomplished, I'll do it.

Mitch also is established in the Branson area and has tons of contacts. He performs in some of the shows. He would know who you could speak to regarding having your own show.
Interested?

Boy! Wasn't I good at guessing that your roots are from Germany?
Your parents still reside there?
By the way, I have a friend in Hamburg who does MJ dance impersonations. He is CRAZY about the guy and thinks he's completely innocent. He said MJ is VERY popular in Germany.

Oh hell yes, I'm always interested in new opportunities and venues, and yes I've heard of Branson MO. as a theater town, from a good friend of mine who is a master puppeteer. He moved there just for that. He says its the "puppet theater central" for the whole USA. Obviously there is a lot more going on than puppetry!

You are lucky to have bumped ito Mitch, those people are few and far between. I hope he can do you cause alot of good. Please feel free to pass on my info to him and that I would love to hear some of his ideas as to what sort of performance I could construct in a theater setting. This has really got my interest up.

Well, if I were you, I'd go there in person, check out the guy from Austria with the waterfalls dual piano show, ask him how he got funding to get started, meet other musicians (the whole town is musicians--you'd get hired at the very least in show gigs every night of the week, talk to Mitch, contact the Chamber of Commerce, etc. I think to get something done, a person needs to go there.

If you want to contact Mitch, tell him Angelina says "hello" and will be scheduling with him shortly.

His contact info: Mitch Keirsey, Producer; Keirsey Music Productions
(417) 334-1901

I think you're about 1440 miles from Branson, MO

The "weird" thing about Branson--and I've never seen anything else like it--the entire town is white people! Even the kids who work at Wendy's are all white! Even all the employees in Wal*Mart with one exception are white! It is the whitest whiteness I have ever seen. In fact, I was at one dinner theatre show last year, a musical revue of the best of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's--and when they got to the 60's, these white women came out in wigs and impersonated the Supremes! I was laughing so hard, I might have peed! But THEN five white guys came out to impersonate the Jackson Five. Now, I lost it at that moment. I really did!

It's really easy to meet people in the town. They are friendly, low crime.
I was in a cyber cafe when I met my "tour guide" a midget who fell in love with me and couldn't understand why I wouldn't sleep with him.
(This is all true! I know I make you laugh. My whole life is a twisted comedy!) He is actually a professional stunt man for child actors, down on his luck from Vegas, hoping to employed in Branson and I hired him to do camera work for me while I was there. I wonder if my midget stunt man "boyfriend" will still be there upon my return?

One of the shows that impressed me the most was the Haygoods. They are a family of eight children, seven boys, one girl, ranging in age from 8 to 28. All the guys look like "Kennedy" kids. All of them sing, dance, and play multiple musical instruments. Their show is also one that covers the best of the best songs from the forties to the eighties. How I would love to have or be born into such a family! The parents, not in the show but very much behind the scenes, sell t-shirts, videos, CDs of their gang. They were two fiddle players who hooked up in the Sixties and produced these extremely gifted, charming, intelligent children.

There's also a C & W show that has this handsome country-style guy in it who is in the Guinness Book of World Records for singing the world's lowest note. At one point of the show, they stop the show and make him hit that note. He takes a deep breath, then sings, "Low, low, low, low, low." The last "low" is a note SOOOOOOOOOOOO low that the entire auditorium vibrates!

OH! Another show that's a GAS! The Branson Follies! I want to be one of them someday! The women clad in Vegas-style costumes sing and dance like folly girls but you have to be AT LEAST sixty years old

Mitch would probably also know about restaurants like Lambs that would hire you. See previous post for details and Mitch's phone number.

to meander back to the original topic, here.....
Say what you will about all these freaks, (hate the sad facts about the children, though) These people were created to be entertainers. I don't think I own a single piece of his music except for when he was a kid, (LOVED 'Never can say Goodby by him) but I've seen him and him with the J5 four times over the years. Dam good show. Did anyone see the Opie Winfrie interview with Jackson circa 1992 or so? He started talking about some new song he wrote and then starts cliking a beat with his tongue, humming the accompanyment and singing the words at the same time! This'll never excuse the behavior, but I'm knocked out by the purity of talent and ability. Anyone ever see Prince? I have several times. I haven't really dug his stuff since 'purple rain' but MF, can that guy make music - Always has the best bands, too. And, ya, another freak. Seems to go with the territory somehow.

I just saw Dream Girls last night. Is that supposed to be based on the Supremes? Is the story line true? I think the "Jackson Five" were also in it briefly--for a second--also under a different name. chachaangelina

Hello, I'm new to this site and just felt like reading this topic to see peoples' arguments... I love how it turned into an intelligent conversation between two obviously incredibly talented musicians (also quite successful might I add). Irminsul, I'm actually listening to Blindside Barium right now, and I love it. Never expected to find a musician on this site that plays this style of music. Very nice. I love the transitions and the breakdowns. Sorry Angela, I can't find any of your music, otherwise I would comment on that too.

I'm actually the drummer of a local band (the s/n Shovelhed would be the name of it), 18 almost 19 years of age, 11 almost 12 years completely self-taught, and going to College to major in Entertainment Sport and Promotion Management. If you have any suggestions, other than the usual hard work and dedication, to making a successful career out of music please let me know. I plan on doing this for the rest of my life, musician born and raised :D.

Our band doesn't have any music on the web yet because our guitar equipment (and our guitarist) got into a wreck on our way to a gig and we were going to go into the studio after that gig. Then we lost 3 members and we've been repairing our band ever since. Been doing the whole, trying out musicians, letting em go because they don't show up, trying more out... just the usual repairing of a band.

I'm glad y'all had the conversation though, I learned some things about people stealing music and such. Learn something new everyday though, eh? So once again, if you have any suggestions, please let me know, I'm a very open-minded person and would like to stay that way :D. Thanks!

Hey Hans thanks very much for your comments. It always puts a smile on my face when somebody digs what I do :)

Best of luck with your new act and i'm sorry to hear there was an accident involved so early on....but you know what they say, sometimes the Universe throws you a curveball right before something really GOOD happens. Keep the faith and let us know when your music is posted.

This isn't another blow job for Irminsul...

j88ATL,

That's sad it took Michael Jackson's case for you to lose faith in our legal system... What about President Bush? Do you think he'll ever be charged with his many crimes?

To everyone who hates Michael Jackson: You're not lawyers and have no knowledge of the case (what you hear on your local news channel is bullshit). You're not psychologists either, and if you are, you haven't personally probed Mr. Jackson's psyche... so you don't know anything. I guess it's a problem if a man has a great love for children and let's a lot of sick kids have the fun they'd usually never get at his personal amusement park (make jokes if you will). I agree he may have a few screws loose, and I certainly don't dig the anti-Jew comments... but that makes you want to burn down his ranch? What kind of logic is that? Is this the Colonial times or something?

j88ATL and others,
You're jealous you didn't write the records 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller'... Guarantee none of you (myself included) will ever sell as many albums as he did...

Was that an 'Irminsult?'

And you didn't need to include 'us' in your statement if you're really the only one who wants to know about my sex life. What are you some kind of voyeur? I like to keep that information to myself, thank you.
