(I try not to say rednecks and offend folks)
What did you call me???
hehe...
I grew up with a major league redneck for a father, believe me it wasn't fun getting screamed at for years because I liked rock instead of country, I hate country now because of it. Got screamed at for 5 years and accused of "doing dope" long before I ever saw a joint or anything else. didn't want it, had no interest in it, finally decided it was time to try weed when he threatened to turn me in to the police for something I'd never even seen...If I'm going to get thrown in jail it WON'T be for something I've never done...so I told a few friends at school (senior year) I wanted to join the party...he was still screaming and insulting me when he died...after I stayed with him for 2 years and helped him when he couldn't walk, really bad health from diabetes...greasy food was his drug, he threw screaming fits for fried chicken after promising his doctor he'd eat right.
Trust me you don't want to know what a REAL redneck is like...I grew up with one and have paid for it for my entire life. Biased, loudmouth, selfish, prejudiced...redneck is basically a nice term for a*%hole.
But it doesn't offend me at all, or bother me, I still live in redneckville louisiana and we joke about it all the time, it's not a big thing, very similar to blacks calling each other niggers. By the way I NEVER use that word...ever...except in situations like this.
OK back on topic...Joe Walsh definitely, they'll love it. Rocky Mountain Way would be good, Life's Been Good will work, Funk 49, any others you can put together. Skynyrd will go over well, so will 38 Special, most other southern rock (you guys
can play southern rock right?

) and I once played Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" at a party for a Baton Rouge area biker party. The people who had so far completely ignored me (they didn't applaud, they thought that was implying I was better than them) stopped whatever they were doing, pool games stopped in mid-shot, and every eye was on me, nobody moved a muscle, I had their undivided attention...finished the song and they went back to their partying and pool games and continued ignoring me. I didn't know what to think...
Later I found out one of their members had died a few weeks earlier and that was the song they played at his funeral. Their captain came up afterward and told me if I ever needed anything all I had to do was call them. No I never took him up on it...but some of them showed up every time I played anywhere after that. Very loyal fans...
