Just added a quick demo of a new tune (Mariachi), and it's one of those originals where you're thinking that the tune sounds familiar, but you're not really sure.

Dax,
The first couple of notes of the bridge melody is similar to the bridge of the old Shadows, (later Ventures ) tune "Apache". I wouldn't worry about it. I love that style of playing. I bet you would have some fun with the tremolo bar on my old Fender Mustang. 8)

I got a lot of catching up to do listening to your stuff. It seems that not to long ago you only had Watchtower up on the ol' player. Do you have your tunes set to download? I would like to load them to my new MP3 player after I learn how to use it better.

Hahaha..

Just kidding man. When I first heard it that's what immediately hit me. I really couldn't tell you why.

You always have the coolest vintage sounds. I really envy you for that. Your amps are incredible. Having vintage amps is only half the battle. knowing how to use them is the other, and you do it very well. I loved the song. You have a lot of really good songs on your profile. Thanks for posting them.

Franny,

Good calls really. You have alot of music in your head. LOL

The opening chords are pretty general and could apply to several things, none of them close enough to be troublesome.

The meat of the song however, reminds me of something more particular, but I can't put my finger on it yet. An old standard, kind of like "Rose in Spanish Harlem" but not that one. But an old standard like that.

It's been bugging me for days. LOL

But it changes fairly quickly, so it would not be a problem, as far as copyrighting.

It's a nice tune Dajax, and has enough changes to not be a rip off of anything. When you are working with only 12 distinct pitches, where Western Music is concerned, it is nearly impossible in a modern era, with hundreds of years of written and recorded music, to have a piece of music not sound "like" something else from time to time.

BTW I love the song and the electric guitar tone. More people need to rediscover this style of playing

Thanks for all the comments guys, and gals. Howlin' J. is dead on about the bridge I definately had "Apache" in my head for that first F chord, and the intro chords I don't even really like, but the part that concerned me was the DADADADADA DA DADADADADA tune of the verse. Funny, now that I'm listening to it again I'm thinking of ABBA, like a Fernando/I Have A Dream unholy alliance LOL

Well Thank you kindly Shredd, I was lucky enough to come across 2 killer amps of a lifetime in the early 2000s but have to admit that almost everything on my tunes on this site (including Mariachi with a DeArmond M-77T guitar, and a Boss DM-2 analog delay) was done direct through a Tech 21 Sansamp that I bought when they first came out in the early 90s. Since I live in an apartment, I can't really get the amps up loud enough to even get a decent clean tone. But I do spend LOTS of time with the Sansamp dialing it in to sound like my amps as best I can before I lay down a track

Well here's one just for this thread...added at the very bottom of my tunes is what I thought was the superb final recording of this tune, BUT sheeez, who figured that adding a 12 string guitar, and a mandolin would require sobriety, and a tuner?!?!?!?
