who says a peace rally has anything to do with war? its not even about international affairs. you people are very cynical, and my A&R friends and i feel for you, don't want to work with most of you, but we feel for you. Anyway, this concert for peace is about different people coming together to enjoy different kinds of music together with the intent to have a good time and get along. that my foolish colleages is what a rally for peace is. peace does exist. not on a global scale, but I don't live a global existance, and i'm only looking for a little peace and harmony in my life to share with others, we have found it before in this fashion, however, I have never used this bandmix website before. i am discovering that it doesn't necessarily feature the greatest personalities in the business, at least not that are active in the forums. Any of you who replied that you know of no peace anywhere in your lives, you are not invited to perform, don't call. and please, feel free to NEVER submit your work to my record label, we work with artists, and artists KNOW peace in their work if nothing else.
Um...Ace? Tell us some details, please. I haven't found anything to make my time, $, & trip worthwhile as yet, from your post.
I'm not slamming you, understand. I'd like to come & play if it would at least pay for the trip.
I do lots of charity events, but you are, like, 6+ hours from me.
Talk to me, man.
Oh, & Jo...I laughed at it, too. No you aren't a bad man. LOL

Here is the information, as it stands so far, and keep in mind, these things come together quite quickly once all the pieces are in place, this is only in the early stages...
The event will be in Charleston, WV in a venue that will accomodate at least 3500 and up to 10,000. Bands that commit now are under no actual obligation until contracts are signed. Sponsorship is currently being obtained to allow compensation for bands that need to travel longer distances, however, compensation is intended to supplement expenses, the exposure to up to 10,000 people should be incentive enough to compensate you.
@Ace Entertainment, @Ace Records, and @Ace Studios are donating their time and services to this event, as are many local acts. There will be a budget in place in the next 20 days to allow for contracting out of area acts that are interested, however, if your financial demands are rediculous, don't bother to contact us. This is a charity event, the less it costs to put together, the more the charity gets, and that is the whole point.

seems like the bees are out of the jar on this one....
just for the record i think a peace rally is better than just sitting on your fat american arse and do nothing... spewing crap about it being for wimps or any other such drivel is a little strange....
as many of you know im irish and ive seen war and peace in my lifetime in my country "first hand"...i have friends who lost loved ones and others who are complete wrecks both in the body and the mind...if any of you americans saw it happen on your soil i wonder how many of you wouldnt want a peace march?????
come on people i could understand if it was the kkk looking for band to play at a hate rally....i would be first in line to throw rotten fruit at them but for f ucks sake it a peace rally...how can you have a problem with a peace rally?????
if your down on peace you have to be up with war...no?
just for the record i would be interested in playing...i live in cross lanes and would be willing to play for a special low fee...but i wouldnt play for free...as i may have to turn down a good paying gig to play the peace rally...
slain.

This guy is a huge ACE-HOLE.
The next time you plan to wallow on in here, Ace ole boy, realize what you are up against. And negative remarks that are general are taken offense to by everyone, not just who you intended it for.
In conclusion, EAT MY SHORTS!!
PS: Are you even so cheesey that you plant playing cards with aces on them all over the place? (puke)

I don't believe I said anything untrue. You know, I'm a Jersey boy too, born and raised in Dumont, got my music education on the streets of NYC. Moved out here to continue doing quiet promotions after many successful shows in Florida and Pennsylvania over the last 18 years. I am a music business veteran who got tired of working for large companies that rob their artists not only of their music and talent, but in some cases even their instruments. I started an independent record label to treat the artists better. Unfortunately, from what I am seeing on this site, artists sometimes deserve what they get. So, call me Ace-Hole all you want, I'll be sure to remember your names on my mailing list to all my other A&R associates at atlantic, sony, and other companies I've done business with. I don't need money, I made alot of it off the backs of artists in the past, I am in this for the love of the music. I am putting together concerts for charities that are important. I don't have time for stupidity. I don't have time for artist drama. The couple artists I have signed to my label are dedicated and professional, they love their art and live their art. They find peace and solice in their art. That is what I want in my life. If you as an artist want the same things, then I would be willing to consider working with you. If not, I don't need you, go away.

Hey Ace,
Putting aside the obvious politics of peace and war, can you tell us a little more about the event itself?
You stated that the arena can seat 3500-10k people, but how many, do you realistically expect to show up? What marketing strategies are you using to promote the show? Are you selling tickets already, or plan to sell them at the doors?
You have to understand, many people here have been around the block enough times to sense a big load of BS, or when a rookie promoter claims to be able to book a 10k crowd and in reality can't find 100 people to show up. You need to provide some details on how this is going to go down before we climb on board.
And don't mind the captain, he ran out of hemp and ritalin this week and he's obviously easily agitated.

Sounds like I might be interested, Ace.
I have no idea why ppl are so up in arms toward you all of a sudden. Seems a bit odd for this site, but maybe I'm missing something, or they are.
My band wouldn't be able to be there, but I could do it solo, if that's okay & fits into your program.
Let me know.

The previous post tells what info I can give you at this point. There will be contracts and payment for expenses for travel, all out of the budget which currently sits a little below 25k, however, there is the possiblity that the headliner may take up most of that budget, negotiations are still in progress. All I am asking is for people to commit interest, you will be contacted if you are selected to perform and a price will be negotiated. As it stated in the first post, please contact us for more information. Some of you may not understand the preperation that goes into this kind of event, but when the budget and headliner and charity and venue are all locked on paper, then we will begin contracting local acts. Local acts that express interest will be contacted if myself and other A&R reps that are involved in the planning think that they are stageworthy for the event. This is the last of the details I will post in this forum, I am somewhat dismayed at the attitued of most I have encountered so far on this site. Even those contacted personally who list themselves as committed musicians are not truly committed when contacted for real work. It is mind boggling.

too true phil.....i cant understand why people on here feel the need to slight/down talk someone who talks about peace.....lennon spoke of peace and love...jesus spoke of peace and love.....and look what happened to them..
kind of makes you think....wouldnt you say?
I have to tell you - many of us here whine about not having venues to play at. Here comes this guy with one, & what do you do? You hit him with a bunch of sh*t.
I'm embarassed to be associated with many of you right now.
We're SUPPOSED to be pro musicians & pro-musician wannabes. Have so few of you actually played at any peace rallies?
I like to call them hippie festivals, & they are a GREAT place to sell merchandise, & to get word out on your various acts. They're also good for meeting ppl to play with, stupid! Get your collective heads out of your asses & look at what might be a very good thing for ALL of us, instead of sitting on your damned high horses & blasting him & running him off, & for WHAT? So you can sit in your living rooms & giggle at how effing clever you are?
I have no idea what the hell set so many of you off on this guy. Yeah, it's for free. Most of them I've played at were free. I would like to get expenses paid, of course, but that's probably out of the question now thanks to you a-holes.
This really pissed me off.
Ace, you have my apologies for all of this stupid crap. If this kind of thing continues, I'll disassociate myself from this forum. That's about all I can do.

Yeah, Anthony, I just don't get it. What a buncha maroons.

Hey, I was nice. I wished him good luck, and I agreed with San bout the peace statement. That's all. If you want me to wish them luck again, I can do that
Take it easy, Phil.
For the record, though, Ace started the demeaning before San did. Just sayin'.
Peace
