This isn't a music thread so I am not going into more of this. But just so you know, I have researched autism and its spectrum disorder for years.

Don't get me started on this...I've listened to "Dead Doctors Don't Lie" a dozen times, and read Kevin Trudeau's book. Trudeau is basically lying when he says he's not in it for the money, his book constantly whines at you to join his paid membership website and offers little solid information, you guessed it, it's all on his website.


But he does offer a very interesting and eye opening view of the medical and pharmaceutical industries. The FDA approval you mentioned is a farce, 9 times out of 10 half the approval panel is employed by the company that makes the drug. They've lobbied congress to get bills passed that state that ONLY drugs can cure or prevent disaease. (They can't patent herbs, so they can't make billions on them) They got a bill passed that classifies MSG as a spice. So now they can put MSG in your food (and do) and just print the word "spices" on the label. Yeah that's the same MSG people started avoiding 20 years ago when it was determined to cause cancer.

Neither said anything about vaccines, but your comments closely parallel what I've learned from both of these sources about drugs. Drugs are nothing but chemicals, never intended to be introduced into the human body. Pharmaceutical companies produce chemicals and sell them at exorbitant prices to make billions, and they do it knowing they are killing people. It's a proven fact that drugs kill more people every year than the diseases they are trying to treat. That's been stated on TV shows such as 60 Minutes, not just in Trudeau's book.

Cancer didn't exist 100 years ago. Now the ads paid for by several pharmaceutical companies tell you the sun causes cancer. The sun does not cause cancer, sunscreen does. It's chemicals...Otherwise 90% of the farmers that have fed this country for 200 years would have been fighting skin cancer for ages...

Look up Dead Doctors Don't Lie sometime and check it out, but don't think it's the only thing involved in staying out off the hospital. Ditto for Trudeau, both just want more money and both don't tell you that the overall picture has a much wider scope than either is willing to admit. Nutrition, education, exercise, avoiding high risk situations and more all have an impact, not just taking vitamins and minerals or eating organic food.

I haven't researched vaccines, but I've suspected for a long time they are doing harm we are not aware of. After all, vaccines are produced by pharmaceutical companies just like the one that sold Vioxx for 5 years AFTER it was known to be killing people. It was removed from the market only when people started finding out and filing lawsuits. As long as it made money and nobody raised too much hell, Merck (spelling?) still sold it. So what if over 10,000 people died, only the dollar bills mattered.

Also it's notable that if you choose to wait on vaccinations, or not have them done at all on your child, the schools in most states have no legal rights to refuse to admit your child. They will try to trick you into thinking that they can refuse your child, but they can't.

She's very knowledgeable and involved on this subject. I saw her on Larry King and she basically ate the doctors for lunch. totally confidence, full of facts, and would take NO bullshit from them.

Interesting how a woman can pull a guy into her causes too huh? Brad Pitt has become a veteran humanitarian at this point, and now Jim Carey is backing his woman up and getting involved with her cause.

If you have a problem you become an expert on it. Doctors know a little about every illness. When I got sick 15 years ago I becme an expert on it. First episode I had doctors didn't even know what I had. Damn near killed me. Doctors are like car mechanics, usually just guess based on the symphtoms and in early stages tests don't reveal many things. If you have Diabetes or something else you need to become an expert on it.
Unless a doctor is a specialist they don't know crap besides a couple of paragraphs from a medical book.

One word. SMALLPOX. Look at both sides of your history not just histeronics that gets big play from people with more dollars than sense.
Actors get big play time in various media. But people whom spend their life pretending to be something they are not can hardly be held up as science. Have you ever spent years in the care of someone slowly dying from post polio syndrom. Has Brad Pitt? Pitt is a f**k idiot.
Do the media types advetise that the HPV is an STD? You dont need vacinations for it if you follow comon sense. I dont have any use for an HIV vaccination. Just tell me who has it and I'll stay away from them as much as I can. (I am a nurse and get to take care of all kinds of people I provide the best care I can to all but have no sympathy for people who,s problems are related to being stupid or lining like roaches. No they have a bunch of "actors" jumping around saying Get this shot and be "One Less"

Don't be too sorry, for although there is no doubt there is a lot of validity to this big media event, ya gotta watch out for "knee-jerk reactions before you jump in a cause with both feet. Although Kramerguy is to be commended for his interest in worthwhile causes, You of all people have been around the block long enough to know that there is usually MORE then two sides to every story.

It's funny, before my daughter was diagnosed, I never knew what autism was.

I've been digging into books, the net, anything and everything I could get my hands on ever since.

What's sad is that most of the info I've found over the years is really inaccurate. Especially what was coming out of the CDC, dept. of health and human services, WHO, and especially the pediatric doctors circles.

It almost entirely mirrors the global warming situation. First, they denied and denied. Then they hired scientists to print reports that said what the government wanted them to. Send misleading statements and false facts to the mass media, who never fact checked the government sponsored propaganda.

Then they finally admitted there was a problem, but denied the cause. And once again, private citizens are left to become the experts and try to find a solution to a problem which the causes and solutions are all tainted by a propaganda war.

You're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Do celebrities get involved with ridiculous causes and sometimes do it for their own egos or whatever selfish reasons they may have? Sure. Are they often uninformed? Yes. Is this always the case?

Angelina Jolie is no joke. Neither is Bono. Bono is on the most knowledgeable people you will find on third world issues, and he is doing something about it. He is respected on BOTH sides of the aisle. Jolie has lived with refugees for weeks and months at a time, helping them personally and directly to understand their suffering from the inside out. She is respected as a very knowledgeable person on such issues, and widely respected at that. She's the real deal. Brad Pitt is new to the game, but her passion has allowed him to explore, what is clearly a long held desire to do good in some way, to live for more than himself. I respect her IMMENSELY and I respect him too. He is currently working his ass off to get housing built in New Orleans from Katrina.

I cannot judge poorly, people who have all the money and all the reasons in the world, to NOT put themselves at risk for an important cause, and they do so anyway. They get my respect, not disdain.

Jenny McCarthy also is very knowledgeable about Autism. Some of the doctors were not taking her seriously at first and throwing out facts and case studies or whatever, and she knew ALL of them, and refuted their assertions with other studies and did so intelligently and fearlessly. It shocked them. She nailed them. She surprised me. Who would have known?
