Bass players. We're picky.
The best among us can make a crappy band sound good, and get zero credit for it. Unless we're singers, only music geeks pay attention. But when we know what we're doing, we can't take lousy guitar and lousy drums at the same time. Rock bass allows no mistakes, we have to be precise, no fudging of fills or riffs. And you singers and guitar gods know it, you will hear the wrong bass note before you hear the missed lick from the lead guitar.

We have been the underpinning of pop music since the fifties, we like being under the radar, we matter.

Come to the open jam at the Boothill Saloon on Main St in Daytona this Thursday. I'll be there with one of the best guitarists I've ever worked with. Big hair metal is his specialty. I'd love to play some of that stuff there, but never had anything but a blues bassist to jam with. I'm a real bass player. Ever since I saw YES in concert back in 1976 and sat about ten feet away from Chris Squire the bass was the only thing I ever wanted to play.

yes...I also play bass....electric and upright. i have done studio work for other musicians, i also am a lead guitar player,,,keyboard player, sax, flute, harmonica, mandolin and banjo player. Having said that......I am way up here in Michigan....there is quite a demand for bass players here.

I can't disagree with you there. I recently watched their 35th anniversary concert DVD featuring the classic line up. They're all a lot older & fatter now (so am I though LOL) but man those guys can still play.

Had a great time at the open mic with you and Alex. The crowd was a little "clique-ish", but we still showed those blues people how to Rock & Roll.

For anyone out there interested, Julie (Auburn Diva) is a great singer with no ego problems. Anyone in the Daytona area should check her out if you get the chance.

Awww, shucks. Thanks, Instigator. We had a great time, too. You guys really rocked; definitely some of the best I've worked with, especially in the area. Can't wait to do it again!

I have been pumpin' the lowend since I was 12 and the hardest thing I ever have to do is find good musicians who can think outside the "powere-pop-punk" movement...and I am right outside Nashville, TN...I have played everything you can think of and there are not many musicians who want to go the distance and make something that will stand the test of time.....

Vacation. I just got done with one - 11 days hopping around the Hawaiian Islands. On the last day, we found some sea turtles grazing among the reefs of Oahu, where we were snorkeling.

Life is grand.

I dont think there are less bass players I think there are just less and less people taking up music as a whole anymore... Its kinda disapointing.
