what is the deal with the arion octave - are they really that nice? they def look like plastic crap... reminds me of 'sound tank'.

Mike the Arion is a peice of plastic crap but I like the sound. When Im playing a solo in a higher register I love to kick it on and double up the sound, you cant play real fast with it cause it doesnt keep up. It is an octave pedal that produces one octave down and then a second octave down with independent level controls. I dont know where I got it, I found it in an old box. I have a Whammy II but I found it is just too noisey and really colors the sound. Im on the lookout for one of those Boss Harmonist pedals they made in the 80s. On my recordings I love to layer harmonys on solos, so anything that thickens it up a little live is cool by me.

Ive had that TS-9 since around 1980, its just an excellent thing to have to spice up solo tones for me.

We played some this last weekend and I hardle used any of the effects other than the wah wah, but its cool to have them available.

ya know what they say:
"better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

I'm pretty sure those early arion octavers are actually kind of sought after, despite their crappy construction... so they must have unique sound.

btw: did you end up getting anywhere afa getting rid of the noise?

A power conditioner is only going to get rid of noise in "house"power.
Most bars are up to code in order to even be in business in most states.
What the eliminator does is bust up ground loops between effects pedals and PA rack gear.
two entirely different birds.

Best to have both I suppose.

John I use a Samsun wireless, I've take it in and out several times. I have come to the conclusion that the change in tone is neglegable so the convienence is the over riding factor. I love the freedom. Yes I look forward to some pic of the new guitar and your PA system. Your board is very simular to the set up I was using before I got to useing the Cravin amp. It's real handy to just plug n go. I did not buy the power cable for the wireless but it is not hard on batteries as long as i turn it off when I'm done

Mike the setup Im using on the board is fairly quiet.

The pedal pad has a 110 outlet on the side. My Whammy Pedal, the Electro Harmonix pedal and the Line 6 required individual power supplys. I had to put a power strip in the bottom of the box. When I dropped the Whammy and EH, all I had to plug in independent was the Line 6. Ive still got a little more noise than I like but its livable.

Ive got a bunch of old pedals that all have some nasty tones. But most of them color and taint the sound so much I just dont use them except for recording when I can just line them in.

George, I have an X2 wireless on my rig currently, but I may return it for an AKG with the little jitterbug plug that hangs on the guitar. The box with the X2 has no reasonable way to hook to my guitar strap. Also this unit is digital and has some dropouts. The old Nady analog unit I had for years would just get weaker if I walked too far, but the X2 just stops. Kinda like the newer cell phones. I think that might be a cool thread starter, Do you prefer digital or analog musical devices?

They are inspected regularly or else the fire marshall will pull the license and their insurance companies will pull the policies.
A good power conditioner (the expensive ones especially) will filter out transormer hums from neon and flourescent signs.

I have no experience with mechanical bull motor noise....LOL

yeah, I haven't actually experienced a mech bull... but I have experienced a ton of noise from florescent lights on my rig... which is why I initially bought a nice power conditioner. It's got a filter on it... it also makes sure my gear is getting the proper amount of power... and as far as I know it would minimize noise from a mechanical bull just fine.

What make and model conditioner did you settle on?
I think I'm getting inspired to shop one being as I have a slight hiss at my house. I usually just deal with it because I know it's only at home but might as well fix eh? (house was wired by Ben Franklin...LOL)

We have Furmans in our pa rack and they seem to do a great job, cause the only noise I hear is from my guitar amp.

I kind of like that "sound of power"
