I'm a vocalist, and I'm looking for some really good beats to write to. My genres are rock and alternative. If you feel you can get the job done then let's talk.

Hello Sindy, i have a strange question kind of.
I'm a bassist and playing to just a beat or drumline is an indispensable part of being a bassist. I have to wonder how a vocalist goes about this without any backing musical structure to sing against.

Me? i can see/hear an outline of music within the beat...so when you approach it, do you first hear (in your head) a bassline that would give you something to sing on, or how do you go about it?
Just curious.

told you it was a strange question

Hmm.. personally, as a vocalist, the drummer plays a great role in my pace and rhythm (not to mention the cues). So, yea, drum beats can help you work out a rhythm if you can't find any. Not my personaly choice of "how to make a song from scratch," but to each his own.
