nice site, great gathering of useful information.

I think the future of music as we know it will be 2 fold

1- radio, mass audience. It's here to stay, people will always look for bands with mass appeal, and frankly, it's the only way for record companies to survive.

2 - the other side of that will be that indie bands, or non-label bands, whatever you want to call them, will all operate much like small businesses, with perhaps a manager, and a couple of assistants, and the performers themselves, who all combined, completely manage the music and memorabilia sales, bookings, events, signings, advertising, etc..

I think the indie labels will dry up eventually, as they really can't offer the mass audience the major labels can, nor can they offer the personal level of attention that the "small business" band can.

just my opinion though.
