My wife told me this morning that she loves Tom Jones, & has since she was 5 yrs old.

There's a concert of his on satellite tv this morning.

Omg what will I ever do?

He's still got that power in his voice. My goodness the man has to be 70! His face looks like it was ironed. He's even done a touch of rap. He is a class act, in all honesty, & I don't know how I'll ever compete.

How does that joke go?

A man goes to the doctor and tells him that he can't stop singing Tom Jones songs. He asks if it is a common thing. The doctor replies:

"It's not unusual."

The median age of his HUGE audience is around 25, from what I can see. Admitteedly, the concert takes place in Wales, his own country.

You'd never see that kind of loyalty from an American audience, though, no matter the act.

Tom has an amazing stage presence, though. His energy level rivals Mick Jagger, in its own way. His vocals are as good or better than they were in the '60's.

And oh my god, what a BAND!!!!

Never was my preference, but it's a truly great show, really. Check it out if you can. I was very surprized.

I saw this concert too.

He really sounds good.

Kind of hurt me that he played Hard To Handle, we play it all the time so now whenever we play it I'll be looking at our singer and imagining he looks like Tom Jones.

Philbymon: You always crack me up dude! All of you guys do actually. I never liked Tom Jones or any of his stuff, but I do appreciate the musicianship only because I have to as a classically trained dude from the next generation. My favorite dude that was still performing in the 60's was Andreas Segovia or John Williams. Needless to say, I'm still cracking up at your post bro; it's classic!!!!!!!!!

Tom Jones is a powerhouse vocalist. King size in my book. "If I only knew " always slayed me. The intro vocal alone just rocks my face right off my skull.

Ooooh man...I feel your pain...that's cruel and unusual punishment...

I hate Tom Jones, always did. I remember TJ on tv shows in the 60's, my mother would be practically swooning and I'd want to puke...but that was her thing. TJ, Englebert Humperdink, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, the nose of the north Barbara Striesand...'scuse me while I go wash my hands...

I'm not sure how old he is but 70 sounds close, after all he was on tv before Jethro Tull started recording and Ian Anderson is well over 60...But yeah he always did have a very strong voice, pretty impressive range for a baritone, and had the charisma to grab the audience and keep them till the very last note.

But the thought of an entire concert still makes me want to run screaming through the neighborhood doing harm to small animals...

I think I need some Pink Floyd now...

Yes, wash your hands please! We would not want to befoul those small animals, before we eat them. TJ & BS can FT.

Ah, sans, take it easy. I know you're just jealous of ol' Tom Jones, with his fantastic range & all those young girls cheering him on. I bet HE never had the ASPCA come running when he sang! LOL

I only wish I had his vocal abilities. Of course, I'd probably use them a bit differently...

I think probably the only female singer I dislike more is Linda Rondstadt. I hated her voice the first time I heard her in the 60s and still do. Both of them and Dolly Parton too. Don't like Dolly Parton's boobs either, so don't go there...Smaller does it for me, a lot smaller...

Striesand sounds like Tom Jones in drag...
