Perhaps, HJ...but if you sacrificed one o' them Guinesses to do the same thing, it would be better!

oh the thought itself racks me with pain...

Haha.. Yea it was good man. I bbq year-round, it's not a seasonal thing with me. That little sucker has done that many times.

Hey howlin' you know what that bbq is? That's one of those 5-watt tube amps that cooks up a lot of flavor.

Alright we know Vegas is a great place to eat! Vegas has more "Hot" spots than a retiree Villa on Karoake night! But regarding this situation with a musician without his own equipment...NO! NO! NO! Dude be a dick. Unless your in this to consistently annoy your neighbors with half learned songs don't put up with that sh*t. Lemme guess how your practicing, You guys pick your covers make cd's go home and jam them till they are second nature. Hmmm, well your no equipment guitar player is going home bustin out some crusty skin rags and workin on some blind rage! Then he shows up for practice wastes your time with the only licks he knows painfully wacking your guitar outta tune and waiting for a ride home when the unspoken frustration peaks...nasty picture! Dump him.

wow I thought this thread was dead a long time ago.

Well, The singer turned out to be a decent guy, he came back and banged out some decent vocals, we tried to work with his shortcomings (no gear), but in the end, he had some personal problems and had to exit the band.

Upon the news from my doctor that I have moderate CTS, I decided that for the good of the band, we pretty much needed a 2nd guitar. I dug up an old contact and brought him in. In a couple of weeks they are going to see how I'm doing and make the decision on surgery, so I might be out for 3+ months on recovery.

As I expected, the 2nd guitar adds a lot more "noise" to what was a very clean and tight sound that we had. We're working with him on ways to shore up the sound. We still can't find a decent bass player... Well we found one, but he just wasn't a good fit, so still looking....

Found a new vocalist, bringing him back for part 2 of the audition later this week...

I think when I first wrote the OP, I was stressing pretty hard because we had our first gig lined up and we were going through hell trying to find and keep people. The show was looming over our heads every day, kind of like a monkey on our back that was gaining 50LBS a day.

We had a really good show even though it was just myself and the drummer (he did vocals), we brought the house down. We're feeling a lot more positive and comfortable about everything now.

Whoa, pulled off the show with a 700 pound monkey on your back. cool.
Make damn sure you get second and third opinons before anyone cuts on you!!!! For REAL Kramer. Its a PIA but well worth the time invested in your health and safety.

I concur, sans, even though I ain't no med pro.

Everyone I know of who's had the op has regretted it.

how so philby?

I must admit, I can't go on forever like it is now, I've been wearing a brace and taking the vitamin regiment my doctor recommended, which is providing some relief, but in the end, I still get tingling/falling asleep in the arm and hand, and playing excessive bar chord songs or songs with 'freebird' leads that go on forever have become extremely painful.

I'm curious of the what/why part of the regret.

Most of the people I have been in contact with whom have had surgury for CTS. Had little or only temporary relief. Granted despite the fact I am an Ortho nurse, this has not been a great number of people and most >60 yrs old. See if you can get reference patients from your MD. It used to be a common practice but anymore they are so afraid of being sued for privacy breach its rare.
