Sans.. A hot single coil puts you front and center if you're a lead guitar player. The highs and mids cut through the mix like a freakin machete. A single coil just seems to be able to reach sonic highs that a humbucker isn't designed for (aka Keith Richard's guitar lead in "Sympathy for the Devil).

Humbuckers are my favorites in general. But I have enough guitars with humbuckers in them, and I want the variety of having both worlds to work with. Especially when it comes time to record. A humbucker sounds just fine in a Strat. It's just all about what you want out of the guitar.

Ok , That makes sense. Thanks. I have a 3/4 scale Strat, as well as my deluxe. Somedays I think I'd trade me both for a ew American Strat.
My father told me one time "dont ever sell or trade a gun you'll wish you hadnt some day" Me thinks that be true for axe's as well.

My Strat has a Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the bridge and neck positions. I kept a single coil in the center.

With the 5 position switch I can get some cool sounds. I tend to play on a real distorted channel and just roll it off to clean up the sound. So I prefer a humbucker over single coils. The single coils pick up too much noise in a bar situation.

Ive been playing the strat a lot lately since I put EL84s in my Mesa. It is real touch sensitive which is cool, until you get sloppy.

I looped with a line six delay before I looped with my boss. I'd like to have another one. It's a VERY useful tool.

This is going to sound real stupid but I am not so sure what a Delay is supposed to do for me. I mean I understand principle just not familar with application.

This is what they're talking about Sanshouheil.

You'll see how he played something, then when he hits the footswitch again, whatever he just played keeps playing, and he'll do a secondary guitar part while it's looping.

Oh yea, and don't forget to check out "A Memo For You" by Dressed To Kill on Myspace. It doesn't have a delay effects loop. It's just a good song.

George, I bought the Line 6 Delay Modeler.

I set up one setting for an old tube echoplex sound. Ive been using it to fatten up my guitar solos, just a slight delay and it actually adds a little distortion.

I used to have a little analog delay pedal years ago, so I set up that sound also. When I play a note you will hear a couple of repeats. This pedal allows you to set the tempo of the repeats while you are playing.

My third setting is a reverse delay. Listen to Hendrix solo on Third Stone From The Sun. It gets that kind of sound. Works well for smooth legato type lines, anything fast breaks up too much.

The I have been using the sampler. You can play a line and let it repeat over and over while you play over the top. It works OK, the only problem I am realizing is if you overplay over the top it kind of overloads the effect and gets a digital breakup that I dont like. I was jamming with a couple of people from my old band this weekend and we were playing the old Who song Wont Get Fooled Again, I would play the little synth intro sound once and then let the sampler take over. They were freaking out cause I used to never use any effects other than a wah. Another song I used it on was Zep Bring It On Home, when the heavy guitar riff comes in I would sample it and play a harmony over the top.

This sampler can be used for practice to lay down a little short rythym and then work on solo or harmony parts over the top.

I also got the Line 6 Distortion Modeler, but I think Im going to take it back. When you engage the noise gate it cuts off notes if I roll off my guitar volume. With the gate turned off its too noisy for my taste. It has one neat effect, which is a sub/octave fuzz. You play a note and it makes a lower note with fuzz. Kinda gives you that old analog synth sound. But as I said I dont think it brings anything to the table for me. Ive got my amp working the way I want it too with a reasonable volume. Ive got a good clean sound, a vintage distortion and a metal kind of distortion so what more could I want. I have an old original Tube Screamer for distortion and lead boost.

Yes I am beginning to see how that could be utilised. The delay that I have I think has a "repeat" or loop function, as of now just using it to delay/repeat single notes as I play does not seem to have any application in my particular set up. I will investigate further. Thanks guys.
I've really had the bug to get myself a new guitar of late, my wife keeps giving me the evil eye though so I'd best cool my jets. Her Trailblazer is dead and moma wants a new ride. 8)

JW, How are are you setting the delay modeler up? I don't know what amp your using but one problem with this delay modeler is you have to go through the front of the amp. If you put it through the FX loop of your amp your going to have problems with clipping and it will effect the gain also. It's a pretty simple modeler with presets but you can tweak the settings to your hearts desire and get some killer sounds. Trying to remember these tweaks without some sort of save can be a pain sometimes. Even though the effects are excellent I use it more for the looper for song writing so I don't use mine on stage. I have everything I need on my pedal board when playing with the band.

Sanshouheil, the guys pretty much explained how delay and loopng work so I will defer to them since I hate typing. I only type with two fingers and one of them is dyslectic.

Shredd, I like how you slipped our new song into the thread. Thanks for that quick promotion. Over 4000 hits on the new song already. We haven't even started promoting the band as of yet so we are pretty happy with how fast the band is moving just from word of mouth. We were invited to play at the ShowBox in Seattle next month which is the largest and the most well known club in the Northwest so I guess there are few people that like our music. Thanks again!

Mike, I have the delay in front of my Mesa Triple amp, Ive never used my loop for effects, just for attenuation.

I took the manual and started from their presets and then tweaked them to what I wanted then saved them. You have to be careful what you have saved in the number one switch cause when you use the sampler on top it imprints the effect. I like the delay and Im going to keep using it. Im going to return the distortion modeler, I havent been able to make it work like I want it too. I think i prefer true analog distortion devices.
