General Music Chat

This may not interest many of you, but I was so giddy about this I had to let you know. My first String Quartet composition (String Quartet No.1) has been accepted for a concert performance called "Stridulation", and will be debuted at tha Salt Lake City Concert Hall on June 14th. They got some members of the Utah Symphony for the quartet, so needless to say I'm excited as hell that my work will be handled by some of the best of the best.

Your Agitoatio , which I have taken the liberty to download , and am enjoying as I type these words , is a first rate composition indeed! True, I am presently under the influance of an inordiate number of Guinesses, and am somewhat giddy with the progress I have been having in my own endevers. (Plus, it is a buautiful spring day in my part of Midgard).
But it seems that the Gods have been smiling upon both of our houses!

Not to put to fine a point on it , but the dynamics alone of this peice is nothing short of stunning. I love my Rock and Blues, this is true. But man does not live on bread alone, and I have become, in recent times, enamored by the works of such like composers as Debussy, Holst, and Vaughn Williams, among others. Your compositions instill a similar feeling, and I hope they will take root , and be enjoyed by the multitudes. I sincearly wish you the best!

You know the composer did his job (Irminsul) i can visualize a story.
It speaks beyond the score.

Excellent. Well written and masterful. It's plain to see why they were accepted. I find your style extraordinary and refreshing and all the while emotionally compelling. I envy your ability to create such hypnotism in your work. You are a truly inspired and well developed musician. And your class leaves nothing to be desired.

You can't be congratulated enough for this. On another thread I mentioned something about hard work. I'm assuming you've worked hard for this honor. It just goes to show how HARD WORK is the key to success in the music business. I hope this opens many new doors for your musical career. I don't think you can get a much better job reference than this. This would be like BB King wanting to record and perform one of my tunes. Irminsul I hope you don't get too big and stop posting on Bandmix. This has to be about the best news I've heard on Bandmix yet.

Since we were talking bout soundtracks, this fits with some movie bout the 1700s or something.. It's certainly not "Tranquillo," I thought it was pretty intense.

Hunter, Bob, Andragon thanks very much you guys. Yeah it was a ton of work, especially when they told me they needed a conductor's score (I hadn't done one yet) and I discovered a few errors in my part scores so I had to do another edit. I'm so tired right now, I can barely see straight.

You all have been the best encouragement and feedback I could ever hope for, and I'm grateful for that. I hope I can do the same for your endeavours as they unfold.

Irm...haven't checked it out yet, as I'm just home from one of my rare solo gigs ( it went okay, but I was far from great, as I haven't kept up my chops)...but DAMN, my good man! Just having it accepted by the powers that be is praise of the highest sort, as far as I can tell.

I look forward to downloading it on the morrow...have a cpl shots & relax for a few, but then it's back to the salt mines, eh?

I also hope to hear the final recording of what I expect to be very good music, played by the best.

I envy your excellence & accomplishments. Keep it up, maybe some of that good ol' work ethic & stuff will rub off on me.

Of course it’s of interests, someone would have to be pretty self centered not to be happy at the success of another.

I don’t listen to classical music, so the structure is a lot different to anything I’m used to. I found the Lento part smooth and calming, where the Agitato and Marcatomorbidoso were unsettling to me, the Tranquillo is my favorite out of the four. I think it’s because it’s the more predictable arrangement and in my opinion, the most poignant out of the four.

Congratulations to you and hopefully it’s the first of many classical successes.

Congratulations Irminsul! I'm a fan. Believe it or not I often listen to classical music late at night relaxing or when reading. I listened to all of them and that is some fantastic work. Very well done!
