Back in the USSR/any beach boys tune that is halfway popular.

Has anybody heard Dweezil Zappa and Donnie Osmond doing the Bee Gees song Stayin Alive. I swore I would never cover the Bee Gees but after hearing this I might have to change my mind.

I look at beatup covers like this. If someone really wants to hear them and will write their request on a hundred dollar bill I will play it. We were in a metal bar a few years ago and this guy comes in and wants us to play Tutti Frutti and wants to sing it with us. Im thinking trainwreck from hell, but the guy gives us $200 so we slug thru it. It actually sounded ok and he kinda sang in key. The funny thing is the bar owner said she wished she had paid us $300 not to play it, cause when word got around all the bands started playing it hoping this cat would be there and give them a big tip. If you are playing covers what difference does it really make, just try to put your mark on the song.

Wow can't believe no one caught my mess up. Or maybe you did and just didn't care. "I shot the sheriff" was origionally done by Bob Marley, and Eric Clapton's was a cover of it. Still hate the song though.

How come no one's mentioned "Wind Beneath My Wings" yet?

Because just mentioning it causes bleeding from the ears and all other body cavities.

More importantly, why does it seem bar crowds are stuck in the 70's when a live band is playing...yet dance to the jukebox?

Could it be that 70's era music (the heyday of live bar bands in some regions) is what the preponderance of live bands inavertantly "programmed" their audiance to like?

My new band is loadin' up the set lists with a lot of "standard" 60's ("Louie Louie", GREAT jam tune, "Whiter Shade of Pale", perennial crowd pleaser.),
mixed with some obscure tunes (Moby Grape's "Murder in my Heart For the Judge", Louis Jordan's "Saturday Night Fish Fry")
Why? .. BECAUSE I KNOW HOW TO PLAY 'EM!... (and I soon want to get this band "out rockin' HARD!) I expect that the venue's clientel will enjoy most of what we play.

I am also a proficiant composer of "origionals" and ,after we get our "covers" to were were satisfied with them, and the band is a little better "gelled", I propose to "fattin' up the list" with an ample supply of "new millinium music"

Because that was the era of what we call the "White Guy Dance" which is quite a tragedy to behold. Basically, you hold arms pretty stiffly at your sides, right foot step to the right, back to original position, then left foot step left, and back to original position, repeat.

Make sure and keep butt from moving too much. Whatever you do, don't shake that ass.
