Too bad really, I feel its part of the reason its harder for musicians to find decent paying venues. But I kinda understand it. I would not sit through Garth Brooks to see Kiss or The dixie chumps to see the Stones.

The chixie dicks, as they are known in these parts.. LOL

I like the Dixie Chicks, and I'm not even a country fan.

Well, I appreciate your expertise on this genre, but now you seem to be arguing that it really is an umbrella for various branches of the genre, which are distinct. This was what I said earlier, and you disagreed. Now you seem to be arguing in favor of this.

Also, when did I claim it couldn't be melodious? That, in fact, was my point to another poster, when I said that it spans the gammut.

To me, like "Blues" is an umbrella term, for various and distinct styles of blues, like Delta Blues, British Blues, Texas Blues, etc... There are also distinct styles of Industrial music.

I guess I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't? LOL

alright dudes. it's time to say that I think we are getting way off topic here.

Mostly I just started this thread up with the intention of finding other musicians who like industrial tunes...

now we are at the point of talking about genre blending and stuff like country and blues.

ah so, I guess there is like one guy other than myself that enjoys the industrial stuff.

It would be helpfull for some of us to know if we like something by first understanding what it is. To my understanding Industrial was just techno noise. However I was enlightened by Irminsul and Craig. No I dont like it.

I LOVE Type O Negative! Especially their cover of that old Seals and Crofts song "Hummingbird (Dont fly away fly away)"

As to the third count. Clearly I don't share their politics, but I respect them for persevering through the backlash. After all the publicly burned CD's, ala Salem Witch Trials, now, years later, 80% of the country agrees with them, in their objection to the Iraq war. It takes courage to put your convictions ahead of your career, especially when, at the time, they were in the minority. I respect them immensely for that.

I do enjoy "debating" though.

I learn alot through such exchanges. It either strengthens my position, or gives me a better one to adopt in it's place.
