The cold temperature of the beer is restrictive to the muscles in your throat, and alcohol in general will dry out your throat due to dehydration. I've heard of taking a shot or two to take a little nervousness away, because that can also dry you out, but he should really just be drinking room temperature water.

THIS IS GOSPEL TRUTH! Hate to agree but singin' and beer don't mix for those "physical, anatomical reasons. Take heed Youngins! , for Ol' Shreddo and Howlin' speak the truth on this one. (Scotch never seemed to bother me ol' pipes, however.

No gig tonite, so pass the Guinness!

Totaly concur, any singer who drinks alcohol @ gigs is in a band more to party and "let loose" then to make it a working professional or semi-professional entertainment situation. If your getting paid, you should put on the best performance possible, vocals especially, but of course... still have fun. And any audition situation it's total lunacy to walk in drinking or with spirits of any kind.

hey philbymon ill have to stop by your place for a session if im ever up your neck of the wood.....im sure we could learn alot from each other...
and scarlet...jenna jameson wiskey...how about jenna jameson bent over holding a bottle of jameson between her teeth.....
now theres one way to sell a sh*t load of jameson....try getting that image out of your head.....

and yes jameson is the king of all wiskey....again its all about the enjoyment of drinking it...its smooth and crisp and doesnt burn as it goes down..unlike single malts like jack d and all the rest of that paint stripper, pond water they call wiskey...

i have to agree with the gang that drinking and singing are not good bed fellows....but alot of it has more to do with what your drinking...
if i was to drink bud light or any other light beer i wouldnt be able to play a gig because i would be full of gas and wanting to piss after every beer..
or if i was foolish enough to start drinkin jameson before a gig it would make for a very interesting gig indeed....
but i stick with a few guinness...most of the best singers and players back home do the same so i guess its just a culture clash of sorts...

to drink or not to drink.......that is the question.

I've been a consistent KEYSTONE drinker for 15-years. I keep that damn beer in business. I'm not saying it's the best beer, but it is my favorite. I'm just a freak like that.

Yessir!, Shreddo,

A choice T-bone , marinated in Keystone, and slow cooked over the warm glow of a pair of 6L6's, NOW we're cookin'!

Perhaps, HJ...but if you sacrificed one o' them Guinesses to do the same thing, it would be better!

Y'all got that right Philbey! :D

But I just figured, "whilst in Vegas, do as the Vegans"

One thing's for certain, a sirloin, smoked over a burnt Darlinton transistor would suck , no mater what the sauce!

Vegas is Budweiser country Howlin. It's the easiest beer to order in a loud crowded situation. Bartenders love it when you just lip-sync BUD.. You'll get your beer fast.

About the only thing Keystone is good for in the cooking realm, is to put out a fire.

Red Tail Ale tastes a lot better on food.

American beers (except for some microbrews) should be outlawed by UN action as a crime against humanity.

Alright well.. Since this thread seems to have spun out of control, I'll show you how I cook here in Vegas. Cooked this a couple of hours ago.

First I start with this..

Image

That's right.. It's a portable gas grill. $20. And right next to it is a Maple plank soaking in water..

Then I do this..

Image

I fire the bad boy up, and put my food right on top of the Maple.

Image

Two pieces of boneless skinless Chicken breasts with my home made rub on it..

Here comes the smoke.....

Image

There it goes!! It's on now!!! Just look at that beautiful smoke!!!

Image

Image

Image

Image

OH YEA!!! That's just a beautiful thing!!! Like a midget freight train!!

About halfway through, I throw on a few skewers of shrimp basted with garlic and butter for an appetizer. Good stuff..

Image

Alright man.. Time for some Old Grand Paw's Hillbilly homebrew to finish this sucker off.

Image

And.... BLAM!!! Rubbed, seasoned, sweet maple smoked, sauce slopped pieces of heaven. And all on a $20 gas grill. Tailgate style baby!!

Image

(Haha.. You can see I have a hot-spot on the left side. Had to move it over.)

Disclaimer: No beer was abused or hurt during the filming of this episode.

So there ya go Howlin.. Vegas style!! I've done pork spare ribs using this method too. It's killer. The smoke really gets going. I still smell like a freakin campfire. Hahaha...

Not bad for a city boy right??
