Live Pictures is what started me on synths - at the tender age of 11. My parents wouldn't buy me one (who could really afford them at the time) so I'd go to a local music store and play around on one for awhile, to dream. The guys who ran it were very cool, and let this poor little 11 year old get his ya-yas out.

I liked Carl Palmer & ELP up until I read Carl Palmer's article in Modern Drummer Magazine. He was taking credit for the whole thing! What an ego maniac. Whatever happened to Keith Emerson & Greg Lake?
I'm sure Carl is selling autographed pics of himself in a Hawaiian Flower Shirt to Bermudan or Bahaman tourists somewhere and with megaphone in hand shouting to them as they walk through the customs terminal - "Welcome back my friends to the show to the show that never ends...."

Huge ego aside, he was a monster drummer. Another huge ego was Chris Squire of Yes, what a ham.

I love ELP, one of my favorite Prog groups.

My favorite album by them would probably be Brain Salad Surgery.

Also, am I the only one here that bought Jordan Rudess' 07 release "The Road Home"? It includes a cover of Tarkus that is, in my opinion, fantastic.

LOL...yrs ago, I had stereo wars with the aptmt downstairs feom mine...I laid the speakers on the floor under the carpet, & cranked up "Aquatarkus" as loud as I could stand it in the room...they never played thier stereo too loud again.

Yep, LOVE ELP!

Whenever I need to feel totally inadequate as a keyboard player again, I slap "Works" or "ELP Live" into the CD player.

Works is totally underrated....I love Greg Lakes side, Carl Palmer's tracks and even Emerson's Piano Concerto. And Pirates is amazing.
