Bitter much? PG has posted many videos of his various bands. Why don't you do the same to show us how great your bass playing is? I've listened to the music you did post on your profile, the guitar playing was good (assuming it was actually you). Never seen a picture of what you actually look like or a video showing you playing, so who knows?.....

i don't play bass. second most important instrument after drums in a small piece band.

Way too funny that you SUPER MUSICIANS , still don't get it!

So you're not a bass player, yet you're bragging about it, too ...

Gonna suck when a non bass player blows a known bass player to shreds.

is there anything MORE ridiculous than the notion of a contest to see who is "better" on an instrument?

what kind of insecure and threatened musician feels the need to challenge anyone to a bass cutting contest to massage their ego?

or a" guitar cutting contest" to prove who is "better"?

only some nobody who's really out of tune w what music is about thinks that is a quantifiable thing that can be measured. pissing games like that are only for those nursing bruised feelings w boulder sized chips on their shoulders.

I'm with Talbot way to many big strings for me
Looks like they'd hurt my fingers
24 fret neck? Do you use that upper register much?
I know with a guitar it's cool to have those couple extra frets down there
to play around in, but the job can still be done with 22 frets

I'm a pretty good bass player but only with 4 strings
Anymore I'm trying to develop my left hand on the piano
And the right hand too

"Dismal" AND abysmal!

Tell ya what, you can be President of the fan club...but first you'll have to pay a membership fee!

I never knew you were jamming along to my tunes, DP. They can use all the help can get! You should send me a recording sometime, I'm real curious about what you do w them. 8)

When I bought my Honer Bass V i looked very carefully at the Bass VI. My hands just didn't work with that many strings on a bass. Wish they did. The V has twenty four frets and active electronics and it sounds pretty good without the active although I like that growl.

That is a sweet looking bass in your picture though.

Talbot

Thanks, MT.

Your Hohner V, is that the one w the arrow shaped headstock? I've never played one of them but they look like they are well put together. I'm guessing you have a switch or a "pull pot" to toggle between active and passive modes? That's one thing that's lacking on my XB600. It's active only which works ok cos it has great tone and i always keep an extra 9V in my gig bag.

You might find the neck width to your liking as it has a fairly narrow string spacing. That took a little getting used to but no biggie.

And don't think for one second that I don't what you, Gtr Mike, DP, and Schmed are trying to do.....talking MUSIC on a music forum??!?!! Where do you get off? YOU FOOL NO ONE!!!!! 8)

Yep, it's a nice respite from piano-bar fare. One that sticks out in my mind is one you and Jook put together; I think Jook wrote it. Kinda bluesy-type thing. Anyway, it was strange; when I started playing along, it was like I couldn't hit a bad note or chord--sorta like what a basketball player must feel when everything he throws up goes in. And I was playin' some weird chordage. Maybe someone put something in my coffee.

Haven't been recording much lately. I took the Korg to sit in for some band and haven't had it out since. My goofy methodology involves playing a track, sequencing it on the Korg, playing it back into Audacity and adding tracks as needed. Wash-Rinse-Repeat. I can't do that on the Roland.

We should have another round of crowd-source, been a while since we've done that. I remember we were talking about doing that w/ some Steely Dan tunes, but for whatever reason, we never did. (OMG--not only are they talkin' 'bout music, but now they're gonna actually play some? What's this forum coming to?)

a musical gang bang...yeah, yeah. it's been too long. I'M IN!

do you have some musical germ we can put a petri dish?

i've got a little ditty i've been threatening to send to JOOK for some Round Robin fun and games....maybe i should get off my a$$ and record it. i came up w this modal CMaj7#11 ditty on my 12 string. perhaps that might be fun to kick around....

i came up w something really cool the other day on marimba. played it for the old lady, gotta a big thumbs up.....and then yesterday the only thing i could remember about it was the key it was in. (note to self: RECORD EVERYTHING and trust nothing to memory!)

i'm not too excited (you might have noticed) about recreating tunes like Steely Dan, etc. but of course i'm most happy to run w any idea(s) you might floating around!

Yeah, I kinda gathered that. I think we were yakkin' about it around the time Walter Becker croaked. Only thread I ever started in here.

If I hadda quarter for every time that's happened to me...I could go to Disneyland! (Remember, it's only a 40-min. drive from where I live. Or is that Disney World? Whatever.) But yeah, I do have stuff I somehow managed to remember and play around with. One in particular is kinda dark, an aeolian-type tune w/ a bridge that jumps into C-F (how's that for weird?). Doesn't need drums, but I keep hearing an Earl Klugh-type guitar dancin' all over it, and maybe a cornet. Who knows?

We really should do that again. It's as close to a band as I'm likely to get these days.
