Sounds like loads of talent and loads of terrible terrible taste. It sounds like lowrider mini trucks with neon splashes and airbrushed "tings", like neon pink ron jon tank tops with a mullet hanging down over it. Ive seen some of your other posts and we just have polar opposites in taste though we are the same age. I'm not ragging you. Just saying that style was majorly cheese laden as of 1991. It's like 20 years uncool to me. ......................
OK of those mp3 samples Hurricane X was slightly tolerable.

Thas cool, an honest reply..

I figured this wasn't for everyone, obviously this excelled type of guitar playing isn't for the "Modern Rock" crowd.

Why play guitar and only strum three chords repetitively with a three note solo when you can really rip and fly all over the fretboard, kinda like owning a stick Ferrari and driving in 1st all the time and not taking advantage of the thing and learning what it's truly capable of (in the right hands of course)

I had a drummer and bassist complain during a jam session playing my original material. Apparently they couln't keep up and wanted me to play Creed or some other nonsense, they got their grungy butts kicked out the door quick.

I can feel you on the ferrari reference. The reason I like the modern rock thing over the 80's shred is the less is more angle. You were saying 3 note solo? Humor me and go to 1:52 and check out the solo in this old STP song. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qOdnsumWiQc
His tone is tasty and hip. He plays plenty of notes, has plenty of dynamics, in style and tone, and there is more emotion in the 6 notes he plays between 2:37 - 2:43 than any tapping, shredding thing. I used to rag STP to no end. I still think they only had 3 - 4 good songs per LP and that Scott is weak at best as lyricist and only decent as a singer. Man the bass player is studly though. And the guitarist pulls off fierceness with out some over processed pedal on "10".

Proman, your stuff sounds pretty good. I think there is maybe a little too much reverb for my taste.

I think shredding is an acquired taste for a guitar playing market. Theres nothing wrong with that but you limit who listens and they are going to be overly critical of your playing. If thats the area you want to work in then go for it.

At times I love to hear some heavy shredding, I just cant handle it all the time. If Im in the mood for that I generally listen to Vai or Holdsworth, that Harris guy is good but I dont think I would turn it on a lot. In a more melodic vein I like the stuff Gary Hoey does, Ive seen him live a couple of times and he can shredd with the best, but he got the biggest responses for his cover song interpretations.
