"bastardizing threads" ????

"going off topic"?

not ME     no, that's YOU....again, you hypocrite!

cos...you going on about pianos, E9 stabs, and your latest tune IS somehow relevant????  damn, dane, that's ANOTHER swing and a miss.

Dayne Nobody IV wrote:yeah, DP I bet you are always in tune , but I have often heard every time you move a piano the jostling causes it to be re-tuned every time it's moved..LOL.. oh, and will you need a chart if you decide to collaborate with me on "Procaine" LOL  I can hear you putting in those syncopated missing E9 chord stabs on "Procaine" generally done with an overdubbed guitar, but your good tone on keys would make it really shine as far as an improvised piece..or so I believe..LOL :D

So who did you have in mind? I don't know anyone who plays gigs for just food and beer. When I'm playing a paid gig, I don't even drink beer - the last thing I want to have to do is run to the john halfway through a set!

And why don't you answer my question about when the last time you got paid $200 a person for a band gig? the last time you brought up that $$ amount, it was that county fair guy that somehow didn't work out at all.

Mike, I had nobody in mind, it was just the best I could do at the time to come up with a thread where everybody could participate.. I had neither you or PlanetGuy in my mind when I created the thread.. I thought it would bring up some healthy debate.. I am waiting for the respondent to my ad on CL to answer if I would be filling out an already sometwhat established band or not.. so in a way I would venture to play for free too, for at least the time it takes to get the 50-70 tunes together for gigging.. want to keep it simple as far as set list.. stuff like Procaine where a guy can open up and improvise based on simplistic chord sequences.. seduce the audience with flamboyant over the top guitar solos etc.. LMAO  :) :D

I just find it odd, that I start a thread about playing for free food and drink, and your paranoia causes you to think I am indirectly starting a thread about you, that is troubling.. the definition of paranoid is a person who feels like they are being persecuted, in which you fit the bill, because from out of nowhere you believe without reason, that I am starting a thread directed at you personally and you are experiencing persecutory delusions..please.. everything does not revolve around you, but you in your mind must think the world or at least me is out to get you.. trust me, I am not.. but I don't know about the world..LOL

because anything I post has flaws in it, or is not worthy of his ideal .. and my music will have some error or weakness inherent in anything I play or say, I will post straight from wikipedia what I just meant in the post prior..

Persecutory delusions are a set of delusional conditions in which the affected persons believes they are being persecuted. Specifically, they have been defined as containing two central elements:[1]

The individual thinks that harm is occurring, or is going to occur.
The individual thinks that the perceived persecutor has the intention to cause harm.
According to the DSM-IV-TR, persecutory delusions are the most common form of delusions in paranoid schizophrenia, where the person believes "he or she is being tormented, followed, tricked, spied on, or ridiculed."[2] They are also often seen in schizoaffective disorder and, as recognized by DSM-IV-TR, constitute the cardinal feature of the persecutory subtype of delusional disorder, by far the most common. Delusions of persecution may also appear in manic and mixed episodes of bipolar disease, polysubstance abuse, and severe depressive episodes with psychotic features, particularly when associated with bipolar illness.

I know you're on this kick trying to use this whole "food gig" thing as some goofball battering ram and something to take pot shots with...but I think you're looking a little silly with this latest grasp. So, let me answer your question.

I'd never take a gig at a venue for "food and beer" unless it was a one off for some fundraiser that i could support.

Dayne Nobody IV wrote:but I guess I meant to say, as in re-wording it, do you play for food and beer habitually? as in the only way you are able to get a gig is play basically for free? ..

 LOL! No worries... I think we ALL know where you're coming from here, Dane!

Let me break it down for you. I played 14 gigs in July. ALL of them paying gigs.

Included in those 14 gigs are/were TWO restaurant gigs for PLANET JAZZ and ONE restaurant gig for MERE MORTALS. Food, beer, AND a paycheck at both venues. So, that's 3 out of 14 gigs at restaurants.

Given the choice between playing a gig that INCLUDES food vs. one that doesn't.... I will ALWAYS opt for one that does. In my book the only thing better than a paying gig is a paying gig that ALSO includes good food and drinks.

Some of the best musicians to ever walk the earth played "food gigs" in places that serve food. If Wes Montgomery (and scores of other great musicians) was OK playing those gigs, then I don't believe anyone w half a brain should feel any shame in playing where food is served.

Afterall...don't they serve funnel cakes and corn dogs at your swap meet gigs? :D

so which is it you think I am doing to you? is it I am tormenting you? is it I am following you around? is it, I am tricking you into things? , is it, I am spying on you? , is it, I am ridiculing you? .. look..if you go to the first post, does it say anything even related to you? ...seek help.. :)

that was just joking around.. you on the other hand, keep reading into things that are not really there.. such as your "late for the party" remark, as if you had it in your head I was starting a thread to persecute you, in which I say again, get help, mental issues are nothing to be ashamed of, maybe it runs in your family? :(

even if you want to make that comment out as being hostile rather than joking around, I will say at least I was replying to something real! .... real false accusations dave, mike, you and ted were making against my character.. none of that crap is true about the out of tune comments, the comments are only intended to antagonize me because your abilities are lacking, and you need to rial people up to get your rocks off, to puff up your egos, and belittle somebody, kinda like mental midgets attacking for the sake of attacking.. again seek help, also, go back and tell me what you hear as "out of tune".. be specific, give me the portion you hear that is out of tune.. (ex. 1:23-2:45) use that as your SCIENTIFIC evidence as to your accusations, just don't say falsehoods just for the sake of being false as you so many times are.. :D
