i'm not sure who's boasting about gigs here. if that's a thinly veiled slag at me...and yet another passive aggressive shot across the bow from you.....you couldn't have it more wrong.
but, then what else is new? see, it's that shitty passive aggressive stuff that makes me and others not want to engage w you. i give you another chance at civil discourse, but then it's back to your snarky bitchiness.
here's my take:
as for driving for prct and "taking that into acct"...i always take EVERYTHING into acct.
exactly as in weighing what i get out of a situation vs what's necessary to put into a situation.
talk is cheap...and someone bitching about how much they want to play out in a band situation but not willing to drive a mere 45 miles to check out what might be an otherwise happening deal (and esp when from what you said is a temp situation).....were i that band...my takeaway is that you're not serious, and i'd likely move on from you.
of the three bands that i play with Mere Mortals Bluegrass Band is the least gigging and least money producing venture. it's also the ONLY band that ever gets together to practice. and that's weekly. sometimes it's at my place, but usually it's in Columbia which is 40 miles away cos that's where the rest of the band lives.
i'm happy to make that drive because i enjoy playing and hanging out w these folks. simple as that.
would i prefer not making the drive and instead playing w people who lived across the road from me....of course. but that ain't an option in a town of 104 people. so, i make the drive..... because i HAVE taken everything into consideration.
gas/driving time vs the benefits of playing w musicians that i enjoy playing with.
having spent the last 30 something yrs of my life living out in the country, that's something i've always had to deal with. if you want something... you make some sacrifices and compromises for it. if you're not willing to do that...well, the obvious takeaway is that it isn't all that important to you.
your MILEAGE clearly varies.
