i might cos' Benson is there...though i don't really care for anything he's done in a very long time. but i still have respect for him because even though he plays very commercial music these days......we don't have to SPECULATE about whether he has the stuff to play more for real music. his albums from the 60's and '70's leave little doubt what kind of player he is and what HE is capable of.

unlike KG...he's proven he's a MONSTER player on his instrument.

when jazz gtrsts talk about top ten masters of all time you know he's sure to be included.

and how many serious sax players would put KG in their top 10 list of masters of their instrument?

Is it possible that he's recording nothing but sappy instrumental crap just to earn a very good living even though he could surprise all the snobs if he had a reason to?

I'm sure he's made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. So assuming that's true, why would he now not play "better music" if he could?

he has gone a commercial route.. a person can not get too complex creating too many features into their music, or they then lose the "substance".. it is called manufacturing a tune rather than creating a tune.. :D

santoor:
In ancient Sanskrit texts, it has been referred to as shatatantri vina (100-stringed vina).[3] In Kashmir the santoor was used to accompany the folk music. It is played in a style of music known as the Sufiana Mausiqi. The Sufi mystics used it as an accompaniment to their hymns.[citation needed] In Indian santoor playing, the specially-shaped mallets (mezrab) are lightweight and are held between the index and middle fingers. A typical santoor has two sets of bridges, providing a range of three octaves. The Indian santoor is more rectangular and can have more strings than its Persian counterpart, which generally has 72 strings. Musical instruments very similar to the santoor are traditionally used all over the world.
