i might cos' Benson is there...though i don't really care for anything he's done in a very long time. but i still have respect for him because even though he plays very commercial music these days......we don't have to SPECULATE about whether he has the stuff to play more for real music. his albums from the 60's and '70's leave little doubt what kind of player he is and what HE is capable of.

unlike KG...he's proven he's a MONSTER player on his instrument.

when jazz gtrsts talk about top ten masters of all time you know he's sure to be included.

and how many serious sax players would put KG in their top 10 list of masters of their instrument?

he gets a bad rap here, and I wanted to share something with him, if he comes to BandMix to join in the festivities..LOL

Does anyone know for sure if Kenny G plays what he plays because that's the best he can do, or if he simply records what he and his management knows will sell, even though he could play stuff that would impress other musicians but wouldn't sell as well? Is it possible that he's recording nothing but sappy instrumental crap just to earn a very good living even though he could surprise all the snobs if he had a reason to?

I'm sure he's made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. So assuming that's true, why would he now not play "better music" if he could?

he has gone a commercial route.. a person can not get too complex creating too many features into their music, or they then lose the "substance".. it is called manufacturing a tune rather than creating a tune..
