Mr. Memphiz, I checked out two of your songs and gave my opinions and what I hope you'll take as friendly "one musician to another" suggestions in your other thread. I do want to address your "craft" comment:

I do believe that "craft" is a part of it all and I hear the "craft" in those two songs I checked out. But I believe music needs to be much more than mere "craft". When I hear the wonderful recordings left to us by Trane and Monk I hear ART. Not "craft". Shouldn't we all be striving to move beyond "craft" to create ART? (-:

Since beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, art comes in many forms. So with one mans trash being another's treasure, I focus more on the music which is the framework or canvas if you will. The vocalist completes the painting making the artwork complete. I respect the vocalist from a composer's stand point. I never put an instrument in lead unless its a solo part. Other than that the mix should be even/level something live musicians don't take into consideration these days.

What silliness! There IS no vocalist on those backing tracks. No hooks, no catchy melodies. No interesting soloing and nothing to sustain or create any interest. Only boring drum machine rhythm beds and trite and tired chord changes.

I don't know or care about how many "followers" the LIVE tunes on my profile that were played with a real band got me. I do know they got and get me gigs. THAT'S what matters to me. Not how many people come to my thread to make fun of me and laugh at my incomplete and lifeless backing tracks that I recorded on MY PHONE! You're a joke and everyone here, your "fans" are laughing at you. As long as you continue to provide the laughs and crappy music we'll come back for more.

I'm gonna pass because if I have to lie about having a make believe studio to record in and then admit I record all my songs on MY PHONE, if I have to beg viewers to check out my lifeless backing tracks, if i need to plead with people who check my profile to "jam" with me, if I have to have everyone at BANDMIX mock me and my elevator music, then NO amount of "views" is worth it.
