a local (milwaukee wi) guy called pat mccurdy
he's funny... and does a great job getting the crowd involved....
it's like modern Irish drinking songs (if ever there was)
here's his myspace...

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =151946196

songs like: "I'd pay to have sex with you"
"Imagine a picture of me and you -only your not in it"
"on vacation with mom and dad"

the guy really ought to be a national act.

2nd place: your music... JK!
(I don't know if you even have any but I couldn't resist)

Good mentions.

Victor Borge is classic. I still remember his audible punctuation routine. Smothers Brothers were awesome too.

I guess spinal tap doesn't count?

What about Tenacious D?

Who was that country comedian singer with "I am my own grandpa" or some song like that. He had alot of radio play with some of his songs.

And Benny Hill writes alot of songs for his comedy show.

And thanks for the honorable mention for me and the Irmster, but ours is more of a classic greek tragedy. Hopeless and neverending.

I'm My Own Grandpa - Lyrics:

Oh, many, many years ago
When I was twenty-three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as can be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon they too were wed

This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matter
Though it really brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy

This little baby then became
A brother-in-law to Dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
Then that also made him brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
WHo of course is my step-mother

Chorus
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh, I'm my own grandpa

My father's wife then had a son
Who kept them on the run
And he became my grandchild
For he was my daughter's son
My wife is now my mother's mother
And it makes me blue
Because although she is my wife
She's my grandmother too

Now if my wife is my grandmother
Then I'm her grandchild
And every time I think of it
It nearly drives me wild
For now I have become
The strangest case you ever saw
As husband of my grandma
I am my own grandpa

[chorus]

Wow. Has no one heard of Flight of the Conchords.
They had a season on hbo, I think. Not sure, my sis just gave me a dvd to watch the stuff.

But even my bf who is considered by his old bandmate to be a "music nazi", really he is just a "musician and production nazi", even he really likes their songs.

Their songs are just well made 70s and 80s inspired love songs with a comedic twist.

Songs like:
-The tape of love (the sticky stuff, sticking two things together making them one)
-You are the most beautiful girl in the room (you could be an air hostess, a waitress. you could be a part-time model, but you better keep your regular job)
-If that's what your into (you and me, me and you, him and you, you and me and him. being rude in the nude, with two dudes)

ah good stuff.

By the way..
I just want to add that I believe the one guy from this band, Flight of the Conchords (Jermaine, the tall one) is some unknown son of Mick Jagger. He may be from New Zealand, but his looks, musical interests and voice(minus the accent), he has just got to be.

Well I don't rate with the big boys of funny but most of those mentioned influenced me. Love Homer and Jethro. Let's not forget John Prine and Steve Goodman.
Check out my track for a laugh.
