"Blues" is a wide and deep classification of soulful sounds. Jazz is a bit more intellectual, I think.

there are so many sub-genres of jazz, I am not sure you could say the adjective intellectual fits them all. I mean look how great Kenny G music is..

Nobody is gonna tell you go back to the drawing board...they don't care enough. People want what they want soon as they hear it. You can't just hope they like it. Music is a form of art. The vision is yours. They won't get the portrait half painted. No ones bashing your work, but as a musician you can't just pass off an idea and call it a song. Get out of your feelings and fix what's broken. You have the tools.

don't agree with you about your definition of blues music.. blues is simply different versions of the 1/4/5 patterns .. this tune has no semblance of bluew whatever a touch of funk with jazz fits best..sorry..

yes, good points but with only 4 or 5 people that supposedly gave them a listen? and that is debatable just because the player says 4 or 5 plays? how do I know I am just not getting "played" by somebody on this board that has an axe to grind because of the past history here? .. play these for Jeff and have him call me on my nickel..??

I will tell you why, they don't get listens, soundcloud wants me to sign up for a 9.95 a month plan to get them a listen.. I can't blame them, they are a business and need subscriptions to stay profitable.. I already maxxed out my free account and then took some tunes down, deleted them, but then that triggers something within their system/software that really shuts a guy down as far as "exposure" LOL.. I think I will get away from them altogether if I expect to ever get a listen.. from non-biased personnel that is..LMAO..

and I want 1,000 NEUTRAL listeners listening to "A Lazy Mind For Me".. I do not want bandmix members particularly listening and judging because they already have their pre-conceived BIAS already built into them, simmering emotions from crap spewed on this board, etc. they would say it sucks just because of past dealings with them.. am I getting through?

Do a internet search "internet music contest" and put your music up against other musicians. True, a lot of the votes and comments are the musicians with songs in the contest however weed them out and take to heart the real votes and comments.

I entered a song into a contest back in 2003.. it went onto ourstage.com in a jazz or fusion? genre category....it placed 32nd out of 180 something entries, matter of fact it was the first tune I uploaded here.. I think I have lost the DAT file but still have it on a cd??.. previous post in which I was writing while you posted mentioned the fact it seems like soundcloud somehow stifles listens except among people that you can direct to them .. I have heard there were better days at soundcloud when they had a forum/community that you could mingle with and entice people over to listen. hey, a few months back you posted some results of a couple of your tunes doing well in a song contest.. congratulations on that..forgot the name of the outfit..

ourstage now considers blues, jazz latin funk genres to be specialty channels, so makes no sense to enter tunes into competition there in my opinion..prizing still available?

ok, thanks for getting me motivated LOL.. I just entered "A Lazy Mind For Me" in the ourstage.com February 2017 song competition .. sorry Ted, I did not enter it into blues..LMAO.. I entered it a few minutes ago, and it is ranked 93rd out of 117 entries? let's hope it arises to the occasion..

yeah, something is amiss at soundcloud, perhaps my account has been hacked? 4 plays on a tune that has sat there for nearly 2 months and then I enter a song contest at ourstage.com and have 25 plays in less than 2 hours? and 1 favorite icon registered too?

and who is the guy who said you have to spend money to lose money doing music? god, you were right all along sir, man those pristine pro soun ding recordings as if done in an 80.00 an hour studio are threatening in nature.. man to spend money with no guarantee of making a dime takes guts.. some real good recordings over there..
