You two got alot of nerve bringing your sc romance to my forum. Take that bs to "My Stuff" lol lmao js

Oh well, at least I got to 300 posts which can't be all bad. My take on the pass around Cm7 blues is late (sorry), but ready (yes!). I'll add it to my profile page later on today.

Due to conflicting issues with sound preference and note placement, I chose not to play over the original track. There's little too much going on in the piece to just add on, but I liked the concept so I cleaned it up and took it for a spin. Thanks for the chance to jam (again)

"Cm7 jazz" can be heard on my profile page along with my other cool tunes. Take a listen and see if I've strayed away too far from the pass around and feel free to comment, critic or crucify (a popular option on my forum for some) Stay tuned.

Ikr, but he did set the tone which guided me to my version. No sheet to say whos wrong or right, so why bother? I'm just glad to be working with you guys. I love music and I know you all do too. No of us are beyond reproach. If its a matter of taste...well, that varies. I myself enjoy the criticism good or bad. It all makes me a better musician.

We should value opinion. They hear what you can't. They may even have points that should be considered. Bad can get good. Good can get better. Personal attacks have no value, so don't give them any by overreacting. #getouttayourfeelings

Like I said, lame or not...post your love notes to jook on your forum. Name one topic you've made with more views than mine. You got no topics worth viewing and no views worth counting, so what makes you so cool/popular?

@jookeyman
Great. Knock yourself out (literally) lol

no hate here, menmphis1, the bass line left little room is all I'm saying.. please consider booking me in Memphis, I just whipped out this blues tune.. used the automatic writing method of lyric creation, you make your mind blank and get in touch with the spirit world and let them guide you with a lyric spontaneously.. this is me playing, songwriting, singing all of it.I can whip out all sorts of blues stylings, and rather than do blues covers we could avoid ASCAP fees, by playing original blues tunes by Dayne NobodyIV.. LMAO!! :lol:

LOL!

Dane, I know that your listening tastes run to "jazzy" music like Fourplay, Lee Ritenour, Bob James etc......vs. actual straight ahead acoustic jazz...so let me try to explain something.

The bass on the track is playing a what is known as 4/4 walking bass line. It's exactly the same approach that you will find in 90% of all straight ahead "ding, ding, a, Ding" jazz tunes.

yes, the tempo moves along at quite a healthy clip (blame the drummer who set the tempo...i was just locking in with his concept of where the time /tempo is at. And that's exactly how it's done w a straight ahead jazz feel playing a wallking bass line. (Mostly) 1/4 notes and sometimes i pull it back w a "two" feel. . do you REALLY not know that stuff???

now, unlike the hot tub "jazzy" stuff that often has a repetitive figured bass line ...sorry. that's just not how straight ahead walking bass is played. you have to keep the thing moving forward w a steady walking 4/4 line. and you want to outline the changes w/o playing the same pattern over and over.

now...if a 4/4 walking bass is too much for your "jazzy" aesthetic sense...well, you've probably missed out on a lot of great straight ahead jazz.

hopefully that clears up some of your confusion about this genre.

i suspect sambop and jookie might be able to further explain and shed more light on the basics of walking a bass line over a minor blues.

no offense taken. just trying to explain that's the approach that most jazz playing bassplayers are gonna take playing a straightahead minor blues.

it's the tempo that moves along like a freight train. believe me...i was working at it making the changes for that long and trying to keep it moving forward.

and let's face it... it's precisely that tempo that makes it difficult to solo and play on top of.

i haven't heard memphis's new song and i'll weigh in on that when he posts it.

but, as i see it.... that isn't exactly what he refers to as "jamming" in my book.

this was supposed to be a collab effort. not some chord changes that i suggested that we all make up our own version of a tune with!

Memphis, i was curious to see if you had the chops and ideas to hang w that punishing tempo of the bass/drums trk at that burning bpm. I gotta say...i'm a little disapointed you pussed out.... and took the easy way out instead.

still, i'm looking fwd to hearing YOUR version of what.... uh.....a C minor blues. 8)

Can't tell if your pulling my leg or really on the something? Either way I admire the enthusiasm. It all starts with a phone call. Jasir Productions is waiting for us.

@planetguy
Just take a listen, then see if I pussed out or not. I didn't change much, but your right about the drive...its lava, baby.

New music coming down, folks. Check this one out. Its got that swing. Sweet. Ready lets the speakers do all the talking. lol

memphis1, you know that I am one that has never dismissed you in anyway.. I like you.. just get me a job as a guitarist in a blues band down there at a decent salary.. and I would be obliged, and you would get some sort of finder's fee? or even pay you as the booking agent? no worries, I like you :)

I'll post anything I want here. It's a music forum. I come to talk about music. Your thread is not your forum. How many times do we need to explain this to you? You think Peg Lautney will really move from Boston to play with you in Memphis after you cursed her out a few months back? Do you have a head injury? :lol:
