Carrie Fisher, Celebrated Star Wars Actor, Dies at 60

Carrie Fisher, the actress best known as Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital.

Yes she had a hard life.

In spite of it, or perhaps even because of it, she wrote a couple of very funny books. One was turned into a movie and it was really entertaining. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very pleasant person in all the interviews that I saw through the years. She was the product of a Hollywood lifestyle and her parents weren't anything to shout about. Both her mother and father were pretty much useless as parents.



I liked her. Her writing was brilliant and her action was better than a lot of them. Sorry that you couldn't appreciate her, you missed out.

R.I.P Carrie. I'll miss your sense of humor, you made me laugh at life through your eyes.

When I knew her she rather liked to party, so her life went accordingly ... with the early success etc. She was more intelligent than many of the females in the business. She remained a part of hollywood to the end and that could possibly give credence to a bit of what glen related. I say this because many rock and hollywood "Stars" are killed off later after they have become more valuable to their owners as Dead rather than alive. I was not aware of any heart condition or other life threatening condition. Not enough information to judge, although 60 yrs. is a bit premature for women but party hard women ? possibly not.

Helicopters crash. It's not political, it's mechanical. You can throw all of our money you want at those same choppers, and some will crash.

Military service is often much like participating in an ongoing accident. Vehicle crashes, air planes, breakdowns; that's why people train to work in the dark half asleep since you probably will end up doing so. You may assume as many dead from accidents and illness as from combat in any decent sized campaign.
