Everyone is a poser in his own right.

Treadstone wrote:Putting aside the insults for a minute. I've put together several bands from the ground up over the years. And typically the mistakes made by musicians on that list tend to be made by younger musicians. However, I've seen 30, 40, 50, and 60 year olds do the same things. Those things tend to be experiential in nature. But no human "group" whether it's a band, book writing club, a gardening club, or baseball collecting club have rules that everyone has to abide by in order exist. A musician that shows up and hour late every practice, and is one foot in the band and one foot out of the band, is not going to last long. If you have more than one musician in your band that doesn't learn the songs.., those people are not either going to last or the band isn't. RG, you couldn't have made the recordings you have with other people if they were continually doing the things on that list. I don't say that because I'm a psychic, but because I know from experience. And so do you. So, to sit here and defend those things, and say some musicians aren't flaky which hurts their band, and ultimately their own success in a band is ridiculous. You may not like how I said what I said, and admittedly there was a little frustration on my part, and therefore it came across in a negative way, but the reality is the truth hurts sometimes, and maybe people need to consider those things before they start wasting other peoples time. I take the world for what it is, not what I think it should be. Good luck to all of you in your musical endeavors.

In the world of music most wealthy musicians started from poverty. I who now enjoy my leisure with music was busy in my youth.
I for one did not miss the boat. Sorry to burst your bubble but my talent was years ago.

" • If you take the time to setup a bandmix account, but never reply to messages sent to you by other musicians, you might be a poser.

• If you setup auditions with bands, but don't show up, you might be a poser. "

These 2 are by far the worst.... Why setup an account if you're gonna go ghost after a couple of days? Please go waste your time on your own.. We all got stuff to do. :|

Claude - what you do have to remember is that some of the profiles you see are old - and the people may have joined a band, or left the area or dumped the email they used - always important to check the date on when they logged in last.
In 45 years I've never had anyone (or done it myself) not show up for an audition. But I've auditioned people that I wish HAD NOT shown up!

Bandmix should put a no activity clause in their TOS.
If you are inactive on your account more than 60 days.... adios... nice to know ya... ngthoh!
Simple solution would leave only the serious folks. But the numbers would dwindle and how you going to splain that to the shareholders! :P
You can check-out anytime you like but you can never leave...
I sometimes think I'm a poser... since I don't actually pursue much of anything other than putting some songs together for my own amusement... But I don't live in my Mom's basement... it is my own! :)
