Don't we all start out solo and hookup with other people to form a unit? Did the guys from earth, wind, fire all of a sudden appear out of thin air together? stevie wonder solo, solo rap artist, perhaps its just the different areas of different music, some work like that, rock , rap, country, metal n so much diversity sir, times change and so does the industry. welcome to bandmix. :D

Mike you don't have a thing to apologize for. You spoke your mind, that's what I want to hear. You've been around long enough to know that we occassionally get the chip-on-the-shoulder asshole, wanting nothing but to start a fight. This guy is just the latest through the door, and like the others, it's very unlikely he'll stick around.

johnnya: You're right, everybody starts out solo at some point. But even so, many remain that way because that's what their forte is. Katie King, Patrick Ball, Laurie Anderson, and many more all do solo shows and have really packed the audiences in with them. They are far from "losers" with f**k up egos. We should all do so well.

Rick Anthony wrote:I can't stand when musicians think they are solo acts....get your dumb ego in check!! It's one thing to be good, but it's a whole other thing to be licking your own nuts...If all you want is to get paid for playing ....go stand on the corner you little bum...or get a real job!! I want to find peeps who want to play because they grew up listening to earth wind and fire, and stevie wonder, the reason you play in the first place is because of these people...look in the mirror....."rock star"..two thumbs down to you...bboooooooooooooooo....

I played solo for 6 years. Just me and my acoustic. It was a lot of fun. You can work at your own pace.

I just find the whole "I'm gonna innovate a style that crosses hip-hop and funk" to be laughable. I'd like to hear this innovation.

When he says something to Irminsul to the effect of, "there's nothing new to your style" (rather rudely I might add) well then I want to hear his completely NEW style that he has created by crossing hip-hop and funk.

His whole, " I want to find peeps who want to play because they grew up listening to earth wind and fire, and stevie wonder" doesn't even make sense.

So if they DIDN'T grow up listening to Earth Wind and Fire, then they're not good enough to be in his band??? It's just idiotic.

And by the way, Earth Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder can also thank Elvis for them being able to exist in their genre as well can't they? Their styles wouldn't have existed without him.

(PS.. If you wanna be an "innovator", stop demanding that your other musicians like, play like, or sound like another band (or person). Otherwise you can't be innovative can you?)

Dude, YOU need to take a look in the mirror. Because my guess is, you're the reason you're still looking. I can tell just by looking at that post, that you don't work well with others. Just read your post back, and see who has the real ego problem. You're actually being the drama queen rockstar bitch.

Maybe you should go solo.

Did you ever notice that people who B.S. like Rick Anthony have absolutely NOTHING to back up their B.S. Hey Rick, where's your audio samples? Hey Rick, when and where are your next gigs? Hey Rick, where's your platinum selling CD? Hey Rick is your current band working on a CD? Are you in a band Rick? How many years have you played professionally Rick? Have you played with anybody famous Rick? Are you in any way, shape, or form an EMPLOYABLE MUSICIAN Rick? Are your musical services IN DEMAND ANYWHERE Rick? Are you going to reply in the affirmative to any of these questions Rick? I DOUBT IT Rick. Later...Rick...

Sounds like you invoked a bitch storm in here...

just curious: R U trying to rick roll us rick ASTLEY.

"never gonna give you up
never gonna let you down
never gonna run around and hurt you
never gonna make you cry
never gonna say goodbye
never gonna tell a lie and hurt you..."

sounds like you were told by someone else that in order to collab you would have to pay them... that is insulting. Get over it all ready. No reason to piss all over the entire musician community(get a real job)...

Gentlemen of bandmix... Lets not hate on SteveWonder or EWandF in order to spite rick astley...
(wonder was awesome IMO)...

but there's no need to jump down irminsuls throat either... he's typically a straight up guy around here... and doesn't pitch a fit with people... and probably deserves a bit more respect.

PS: Nice avatar... I love that painting... notice where the piano players fingers lie...

Who's hating on SW and EWaF??

Not sure where you read any hate against them.

This dude split.. Time to just let the thread move down the board in my opinion.

Mike Gentry wrote:I feel a need to apologize for my rude outburst. Not to the poster but to the other forum members here. His reply to Irminsul set me off for some reason even though I know Irminsul is more than capable of taking care of trolls like this himself. Some times your the fisherman and sometimes your the fish and in this case I was the fish last night in replying the way I did to this thread. I don't have a problem with hip hop just the hip-hopper in this case. Sorry!

well I'm the fairly new guy here, but if someone attacks one of us, they attack all of us IMO.

We all do various styles and some do solo and others do bands, some do it all. But in the end, I have the utmost respect for anyone who can get in front of a crowd and pour their heart out, in whatever form.

People like the OP have no respect and deserve to be taken down ala group style.

Headline: Hip Hop got gang banged. Oh man, that just too funny.
In all honesty though if he'd come back on here like a gentleman I'd listen anything he wanted to play. Might not be my thang but I'd give em a fair shake.

"We are looking for pro minded people who love music...not just money."

RA
What if you love and have need for both?

Maybe you should be a music crtitic instead of a Hype-Hop Star. They generaly are talentless and haven't a clue either.

Peace Out

No Howlin -

The Maple colored set (really Honey Walnut) is Mapex. My Yammys are Dark Green and in the pic. with me in a black hat and long sleeve shirt.

Thanx for the kind words on the music. I just recently learned how to load an MP3 - DUH - I'm drumming to avoid electronics and computers. LOL!

I'll jump to your site and check out your music to recepriocate your kudos.

I read your post about adding to your band's name. I use to play in a group called Big Bad Wolf. Maybe you could be Holwing J and the Big Bad Wolves? Email me and I can email you back - I think.

Peace/Pax - El' Peno'

Howlin J - Thanks for the Welcoming Salutation.

Just listened to your MPs - Nice Man - I can tell your a good mulit-instrumentalist: Keys, drums, bass and I like your vocal abilities alot (good range).

I bet were into the same kinda music too - blues rock/blues , some jazz,
classic rock, etc... Shame all the damn miles between PA & LA.

Keep Rockin Da' NORTH !!

I thought I was good, but it turned out I was just licking my own nuts...What? I was too busy laughing after that bit to pay any attention to anything that dude had to say. And I sure as hell didn't go looking for his music. Maybe he's on the wrong site. He was looking for YO! Bandmix raps or something...
