RUI ... I thank you for your articulate answer. I did not know if it was a planet with pointy headed insulation eaters. The planet we both share is ruled by Soul Eaters. The news sources considered to be reputable are in Truth no more reputable than the Political filth that Lies and pretends to be concerned about those they work to make extinct. Trump is popular, a populist who has thousands at his rallies and The Hag has pathetic numbers and resorts to pathetic tricks to inflate them. There will be a landslide no doubt ... let us hope it will not be called by nuclear explosions. None of this will be over when and if "The Election" happens ... this will be the beginning of the End. The End will not be like a Walt Disney Movie but more like a War and Peace version of a George Romero Movie.

I'm not sure if they're corrupt but they are definitely show business. As such, they will lift you up when you're the next big thing and step on you when you're on your way down. The press was just as bad back when Bill Clinton had his problems, but now he's like a hero to a lot of people so the press likes him again.

as a former member of the left, I remember how implying our side was "cool" and the other side were repressive dimwits was all that we knew. Policy was too boring to try and understand. We figured the cool candidate was mostly lying but who cares? They're cool and the other side is not.

Pretty much the extent of thought a Democrat will employ during an election season. No real analysis of whether my candidate was able to do the thing they promised or how badly they are lying. We figured our lies were better than their lies because Saturday Night Live and our celebrity idols told us so.

I do understand the right's issues with the press but a lot of this stuff Trump brought on himself. I still say he would have won easily if he had just shut up.

Lobbying was first cited in the early 1800s in the US, so it's been going on for over 200 years.
Let's face it. Why would anyone subscribe to a lifetime of political activity? It doesn't pay that well on the books.

When this country was founded, our representatives actually represented us (to a certain degree). Influence (money + power) was always in the equation but this ramped up following the Civil War when the South was partitioned to the highest bidder.

That's why I'm all for term limits and stricter lobbying laws. The only way you can be represented now as an individual is give $$ to the special interest group of your choosing and hope they have enough influence ($$$) to get your ideas pushed through. As long as Soros and the billionaire crowd are around, the common man has no chance to be heard (unless his/her politics lines up w/ Soros).

The corruption grew deep when the billionaires joined the game. They can afford to buy out everyone. As long as people take instead of give this will continue.
