Hey Folks, glad y'all could come on in for a spell.

I just got offered a dusty MX200-24. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this fossil.

I was looking at a Yamaha EMX 300 16 channel powered mixer (analog) and was wondering if this was anything near and dear?

Tell me what you know. It came from a church and if I buy this, I will have to play in church (but not on Sunday) for these people. (I don't know if that is such a hot idea, considering they may rise up and burn us at the stake while giving us last rites and sacramental wine to ease the pain)

As long as channel capacity don't matter, I'd go with whatever is newer. I endorse most all Yam stuff, so if they check out OK, and the price is right, score. Beware if it looks to dusty. That little canister of alcohol only gos so far when it comes to rejuvenating mixer pots. In the last few years I used three different Beringer Euroracks. I've heard a lot of trash talk about them, but the ones I used worked out fine. There's a lot of newer boards that can be had brand new for a song, and when it comes to mixers, newness counts.

No, I need analog. I have fixed more than a few myself and I truly like the sound better.

I don't think it's powered, but I don't really know. I google'd it but didn't find much.

If by "being powered" you mean "built in power amp" the answer is clearly NO
If you mean "supports phantom power" the answer is YES.

That's good news. "Powered" mixers have their place but I much prefer a good board with an external power amp whether or not you want to screw around with overkill "front end" such as outboard processors like system EQ, multiband crossovers, compressors, and all such stuff that is routinely misused by wannabe soundheads.

consider the 24,... for high quality,vesitility,and it's relitively compact for a 24. I'd score it myself.

And for the record, I like powered mixers. Well, should I say "powered mixers that have been well maintained".

It sure 'nuff has no software or CPU in it , so it's "analog"

As long as the dust is just topical, just give it a careful cleaning. I'm assuming that the terms of the sale is contingent on you hearing it. Check out every channel and bay.

I'm also assuming that you are aware that you will be needing an external power amp. Good ones are expensive and are not so easy to come by used. Any one who has dependable power amps usually wants to hang on to them until they are "run into the ground"

Yeah I have a couple lying around as well. Nothing new, but a few oldie but goodies.

Hey how about some info on a Yamaha MX842?

Again, it's old analog stuff. It's 8-channel, 4 groups, stereo output, non-powered mixer.

50$ to me. My eyes are itchy just thinking about it.

Sensors indicate that the MX842 is an old Carvan. If that's the case, I'd rather shell out a little bit more for a brand new Beringer.

If I ever use another Beringer, I'll let you take cheap shots until you get tired with not even a peep. I fing hate them.

NO BERINGER, used them before and my opinion is that I don't like them at all. Never will change. Give me one and I will smash it before your very eyes.

And I'll stay with my analog minivan. I can service them, I can get parts and I can even get help if I need it. I like the easy, warm, clean sound I can get from them and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
