Talk about a gig with plenty of hilarious moments. For starters we were playing for a raffle that was held of all days on the opening sunday of NFL football season. We were playing outside under a pavillion in 85 degree sweltering heat. Had they held this thing on a saturday afternoon they would have had a better turnout to sell food and beer.

So the crowd wasnt that enthusiastic coming to this thing with their saturday night hangovers. To top it off, they were raffling off a big screen TV and had set it up at the opposite end of the pavillion. Needless to say that when the Packer game came on, everyone turned their backs to us to watch the game..lol.

It was hilarious playing to the backs of peoples heads. Our band name being "The Petting Zoo" would have made a silly newspaper headline, "Crowd snubs Petting Zoo". I wish we would have had a picture from the stage of those people watching the game. Typical Packer fans though.

I know it doesn't say much for me, but I would love a gig like that.

You play, harder and harder until you know you got 'em when they stop paying attention to the TV and turn around to focus on your band!

That'd be good beyond belief. No guessing there. Then again, if your band sucks it'd be a solid shot to the snout. LOL

Hi

It was really a no win situation...we had to laugh at the way this raffle was set up and arranged. I mean, the people did like us and clapped, I mean...they didnt tell us to stop playing!!!lol.

But yeah, it was NFL Sunday opener and in Wisconsin, the Packers are a whole different religion...if anything, we had a good laugh and got paid and another gig on the resume'.

IF football didn't have beer and hot dogs, it would not be entertaining. LOL

I stopped playing for any event that was even in the vicinity of a sporting event, decades ago.

I've had so many of these!!!!

Was in a band once that really bugged me...woman singer always dragged...brought up her politics all the time...you know the type.

I just HAD to find a way to bug her....

The night before one of my last gigs with them, I ate nothing but cabbage & broccolli, limberger cheese, chilli with LOTS of beans, etc. Kept it up until I went onstage. Then I stood real close to her & let it all out. Oh my goodness what a STENCH! I had to walk away from her mike a lot, but I always went back to repeat the attack.

Her face wrinkled up all funny like...it didn't help at all...she sang flat, loud, & dragged even more than usual.

Then there was that party where I had two 1-inch-square brownies...and had to crawl to the side of the stage to ralph cuz I couldn't stand up. No one had told me what they were. Damn that pissed me off!

Everyone had a good laugh at my infirmity, except me, of course.
