No. They host my stations.

As a musical entrepreneur myself, I want to compliment you on having a noble mission to help the indie musician. You seem to have the required thick skin to handle criticism (however unkind) and accept suggestions for what they are...other people's opinions.
It looks like you have invested a lot of time and effort to help people that can't pay you back...and that is most admirable. But I have to wonder if your boyfriend is in the band you keep promoting (Negative Tendencies), because frankly I don't think they're "all that".
Surely you have better examples of groups/acts on the site?
I have checked it out a couple of times and my guess is you are the only person who works there and trying to do it all by yourself. For example, at the top of your new song category right now is "Flowers in Syrup" and nothing plays when you click on their song "Awake". I'm sure it's a user error on their part, but I thought it was a site error until I clicked on other songs.
Considering that, it's an amazing undertaking and you are one helluva sweet girl for doing it. But as a professional "indie" I have learned that audiences don't give a rip about a musicians plight. The average new fan only "cares" about high quality music (for free!). Lo-fi only works for people who hang out with the band at rehearsals.
And my experience is that only indie bands themselves hang out at these places. Have you found otherwise?
Just trying to offer constructive criticism, ok? I don't think it would hurt to incorporate some of what the corporates do, especially in having a simpler initial interface view with your best talent featured (and rotated) on the main page.
Just my .0008 cents.

Well Negative Tendencies doesn't appeal to all tastes. Not my boyfriend, my brother. It's for the kind of person that their favorite bands are Beatles, Stones, Who and Led Zep.
Most of the hardcore indie folk I've met like myself are in it for the music, not really too involved with expecting money.
yes there are usually more artists than real listeners but IMP gets more real listeners than most because of the station aspect which is why I'm there.

Not really discouraging words, Ted.
There is a place or niche for everyone. Singer/songwriters/pop have their niche.
Instrumentalist have their own niche and don't bother stumping to the aforementioned site.
The 'discouraging words' you mention are simply opinions of people who would not favor that sight as a positive place to stump their music. Nothing more.
It's not a put down on those who see it for what it is.
Jookeyman wrote:Personally, I have not listened to Pop since 1970. All of this stuff sounds like the Jackson 5 or the Partridge Family to me. In 1970, I was into psychedelic and rock and avant-garde stuff. In the later 70s I got into Americana back to 1900. Blues to Ragtime to Jazz. By the 90s I was into World music. Then I came full circle back to Classical.
To each his own. I know people who listen to the same thing they listened to in high school and that's ok if you wanna do that but I don't. I wanna learn all I can before I pass on.
