5 days of free concerts, dance exhibits and more on Boston Common!
Went into the city yesterday afternoon, and caught the Wild Feathers set. Pretty good indie band, what makes them unique is the constant switching of lead vocals between the players. This song has been getting a lot of radio play:

After dinner and some drinks, we headed back to the Common and caught Michael Franti and Spearhead. NOt really my kind of music, but this guy packed the place, and his upbeat 'be nice, good and happy' music was invigorating. He came down into the audience multiple times with wireless mic and guitar and had the place jumping, singing and dancing.

was that this weekend? I'm in the Boston area (Braintree) since Friday, going downtown to see the historic sites today. Is there anything happening for Sunday night?

Not sure where you were. 'Boston Common' is pretty big. They had 5 stages set up. The main one was near the corner of Charles and Beacon Street. There was a small one about 200 yards up, between the Frog Pond and Beacon Street, a dance stage closer to Tremont Street - you could see the State House from it (which is on the Freedom Trail), plus two other smaller ones.

We got off at the Park St station and were standing on the corner by the old church early afternoon on Sunday, in front of the State House. There was no festival going on the Commons where we were. Is there another place called the Commons?

It's not the ''Commons", it's "Boston Common". If you'd walked into it (rather than the sidewalk surrounding it), you would have seen the dance stage - but maybe when you were in the area there was nothing happening at the time. Map here: http://otbboston.com/map.pdf - the pink arrow at the right is where the Park Street T station entrance is - you were close.

The guy I was with is born and raised in Boston for over 60 years now. He called it the Common.

I did walk into the park a little but there was nothing going on so we went over to Phanueil Hall area and got a coffee, then over to the north side to see Paul Revere's house.

Hate that I missed you, but I'm in Utica/Albany/Buffalo/Rochester/CantonOH this week, all before Sunday night.
