By the way, PIGGY loves BEER!
He doesn't like wine.(I'm talking about good wine)
I'm certain he would hate Cuervo.
Just a little beer in the palm and his tail is waggin away. :)

You boys left out a good one, Pilsner Urquel. It kind of reminds me of Tuborg which I never see anymore.

And when I don't have money, Pabst (with East Coast brewery) does the trick.

Went to go see Glenny yesterday. I had promised to bring Shiner Bock but left DC too early in the morning to get it there...figured I'd find it somewhere in NY.

Wrong.

So, as a last resort in utter frustration (and not wanting to show up empty-handed) I ended up compromising with a distant poor second choice and we drank some FLAT TIRE Belgian piss-water.

Not too awfully bad...but definitely not as good as a Shiner!!

growing up on a farm in south central Iowa the farm had the Little Whitebreast (no joke the real name) Creek running thru it with a fair amount of bottom-land that grew some hellacious corn crops, but also had the little dirt mounds the crawdads would pile up and always assumed it was their nests? .. I know there are several species of crawdad.. and as I recall, you could drop a small hook baited down the hole and have one grab on. but the best way was to seine for them for fishbait, since I don't think anybody in Iowa back in the mid late 1960's were even aware crawdads make good human food too..sure wish i would have ate one or two or more just to see what they do taste like? lobster? or the old standby, "chicken".. :D

When I was young, we could catch 100 lbs. of crawfish out of the bayou in one morning but the government installed weirs in the waterway and screwed up that party. We would all meet @ my Grandpa's farm, set the nets, run the nets, boil the critters while the adults imbibed in the beverage of choice. After we ate, the adults played cards and we played until late in the night. It was the social thing to do.

Today, the price of live crawfish makes it cost prohibitive to pull this off unless everyone involved throws in and shares the costs. Just me and the wife?? Shrimp is much cheaper and not as much work and not a lot of mess to clean up afterwards.

I'm now headed to the fridge to grab a FAT Tire 'cause the smell of boiling shrimp is ramping up the ol' appetite!!
.jook, you have me reminiscing about running trot lines for catfish now.. and then pull up a snapping turtle instead osf a catfish..LOL..snapping turtle has seven different kinds of meat on it or so they say, we would not eat those either but Mr. Abbott the neighbor would

We drove for a half hour out to Mesa, AZ for our trusty old Cajun food place ( that used to be a 5 minute drive from us  ).
Catfish with crawfish sauce and jambalaya. Yum! Used to enjoy a Dixie Blackened Voodoo there years ago, then they switched to Turbo Dog. What happened to Dixie? Jook?
