What are your thoughts on using odd time signautres (3/4, 5/4, 7/8, 9/8, 11/16, etc) in your works? Moreso signatures like 5/4 and 7/8 than 3/4, as 3/4 is fairly common. I recently finished a track that incorporates 5/4, 7/8, and 9/4, and was wondering if this is something you guys (especially other electronic artists) do and/or enjoy doing.

I like it, but not sure about the 11 minute length. Is that a genre specific thing? I'd click like if it were about half as long. Otherwise, very good job.

my whole thing about odd time is that i like it to flow and not be just some herky jerky math equation for the sake of "oh look us! aren't we special cos we're playing 19/4 time?"

i think the best examples (or at least my faves) are the ones where if you weren't counting, or had it pointed out to you...you wouldn't necessarily catch that what you're listening to is even in an odd time signature.

Paul Simon's "Have A Good Time" is a great example. ( ya gotta love the title reference/insinuation!)

The Beatles were also quite masterful at sleight of hand time moves, often dropping in a measure or two of a different time signature within a song.

And there it is...a sly reference to messing w time from Lennon.... "You can learn how to be you in time". ...delivered right before the time straightens out....wow, it doesn't get much cooler than that! 8)

checked your tune....i'm not a big fan of electronica or remixes. i can appreciate the work that must have gone into that (and the skill level) but it just doesn't get my ankles hard. part of that is the dated sound of the keyboard patches.

and speaking of dated keyboard sounds....

I recently posted a live recording of "Broken Metronome", one of my tunes from a while back that alternates between 9/4 and 7/4

BTW...welcome to BM, Blue Sky. nice first posting! :D

I hate odd time signatures because when I dance to the music and the time sig changes I trip over my feet........

just kidding

Loved your song and the sounds. I feel that 5/8 is the best change up and easy to work with.

and now back to the good old 4/4 dance step.

So, it says this is a remix of an existing song by someone else?

Yeah, but it bears like no resemblance to the original, lol. Not even the chord progression is the same. The only thing I used of the original's was some background noise samples the original is very 4/4 and you can listen to it here (still a very nice song tho). https://soundcloud.com/aeris-music-chill/valhalla
