I have heard this from many years ago, and recently a friend reminded me of something I knew about when I first read The Platinum Rainbow back in 1984..tell this to Jeff Beck because all the tunes on" Blow to Blow" "There and Back" and "Wired" are just chord progressions.. I bet if Jeff ever caught wind of one of his "chord progressions" proliferating on the airwaves he would take the necessary legal action to make those chord progressions cease and desist.. I will do the same when I hear anything similar to "Coltrane's Dream" on the airwaves and somebody other than jook, ready, and me profiting from it.. just thought i would let the world know now before they get some shady and nefarious ideas about stealing intellectual property.. :D

so in a roundabout way, you are implying Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow album is NOT copyrightable?.. the only way around it then to prevent infringement would to have such a complex piece of music as to not be able to be copied by a song miner? .. :D

I really don't think ready Memphis is gonna get rich off the tune anyhow, I read your message, and did not agree with much of what you soundcloud messaged me about..no worries, no worries,, remember yod's post a while back about some musician (forget who?) who was really hot and with thousands if not millions of streams / downloads and he was up to maybe $3,000.00 in earnings or something?.. I hope to work with ready Memphis in the future, might just move there.. :D Beale St. is ccookin with blues bands, right up my alley, I will bent note them into oblivion.. :D

I watched a YouTube video by an excellent guitar instructor from Canada on his breakdown of a case where Joe Satriani sued Coldplay (a truly dreadful band) and won over a chord progression. I don't think it was about a melody.

ok, as an example, say Warner Bros. likes Constipated Duck enough to use it as background music on a movie trailer in the future, they use it and since it is not (in your words) copyrightable because it is a "chord progression" with no lyric, or vocal melody line, than your logic states that is wholly acceptable and Jeff Beck has no say in the matter, because afterall, they are just chord progressions and he happily smiles saying, "oh well, I'm a good sport about this".. I knew all along I could never protect my chord progressions because jookey said so on the bandmix forum.. " :D shoulda knew better" :D

where can I hear Beck's "Ruptured Duck" tune?..don't they proofread everything in the real world? to make sure the truth is printed? find me a tune named Ruptured duck by Jeff Beck and I will know wheteher all being said is truth. half-truth, BULLSHIT or false.. I really like knowing the truth. :)

"Constipated Duck" by Jeff Beck.. chord progressions, melody lines, rhythm parts , harmoniously blended for a sound recording easily recognizable and protected by law..
