It's in the genre of Power-Metal, like Dragonforce and Stratovarius and has a unique Visual-Kei image similar to Black Veil Brides and The Gazette. Quite obviously, it's been difficult to find like minded musicians here in North Carolina who share such tastes. No hard feelings. If the market doesn't fit your product, it's either time to switch products, or switch your market. I've switch my product several times and it just doesn't feel right. The musicians in NC are brilliant and an honor to work with, but I need to do ME now. So here's my question and I really hope you guys can help me out:
Where in the Continental United States should I move to fulfill this unique vision of mine? I'm hoping of course for an active musical community, but open-minded enough to give something as "non-conservative " as this a chance. Perhaps a thriving art community as well. I'm 100% set on moving. And I am willing to move ANYWHERE to fulfill this dream. I just can't seem to figure out where I belong. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance to everyone who will help out and not just discourage me!
I think the best place in North America to put a band together might be Toronto...but in the Continental USA, I'd say Austin TX. Now....you won't make any money because there are 800 bands beating down the door of every club in town to play for tips.
BUT....there are a lot of musicians who are open minded about original music of any genre. The record companies seem to keep up with the Austin scene, too.
But if you're going for really hard core you might try Detroit, if you don't mind the crime...
LA or San Fran are always good but living there can be so expensive and it would take a long time to get established.
It is what it is until it isn't
