This one's destined for the album after the one I'm currently working on.

Paranoia

V1
I’m not afraid
Of attacking hordes
That’ll come one day
To my invincible fort

All I’ll ever need
Behind these walls
For I can see
That the world will fall

V2
Ammunition
To defend and kill
No contrition
I’ll do what I will

If you’re lazy
Don’t ask me for help
I’m not crazy
But I hear the tolling of the bell

Ch
The dark days are coming, I’ve seen all the signs
From blood-sucking politicians to endless welfare lines
Common sense and sanity are disappearing
You may call it paranoia, but it’s reality I’m fearing

V3
I keep looking
Over my shoulder
I know they’re coming
And they’re getting bolder

Trying to take away
All my god-given rights
I’ll just say
That I’m ready to fight

Ch
The dark days are coming, I’ve seen all the signs
From blood-sucking politicians to endless welfare lines
Common sense and sanity are disappearing
You may call it paranoia, but it’s reality I’m fearing

Br
I can hear the black ‘copters coming, over distant hills
I know there’s an army of soldiers in tunnels, waiting for orders to kill
Big brother’s watching every little move we make
There’s not much more of this I can take

Ch
The dark days are coming, I’ve seen all the signs
From blood-sucking politicians to endless welfare lines
Common sense and sanity are disappearing
You may call it paranoia, but it’s reality I’m fearing

Mike I sure could use a few of those lyrics right there for Coltrane's Dream Take II

especially this: "The dark days are coming, I’ve seen all the signs
From blood-sucking politicians to endless welfare lines
Common sense and sanity are disappearing
You may call it paranoia, but it’s reality I’m fearing"..

I will scrap the idea of having an intro field holler moan in it..

it's the stumblingblock at least for me in writing tunes.. the lyric is absolutely the hardest part of writing a song.. I can think of vocal melodies to perch on top the guitars, keyboards, bass, percussion all day long easy as pie.. but to come up with a lyric that is NOT CORNY SOUNDING is tough.. Bernie Taupin was a genius

The next album is going to be mostly rock-hard-sounding. Maybe an old fashioned folk song to break up the sound.

Dayne - I write all my basic lyrics first, before putting them to music. I print them out, put them in a folder, then when I've put some chord patterns together, I'll go searching through the folder for anything that might fit.
