Gosh, I've only been traveling a day or two and this thread is still alive? I'm a little embarrassed by Jeff taking up for me...but thanks anyway, bro. We can keep it light here, they didn't hurt my feelings. :D Forgive them for they know not what they're talking about.

Mark likes to change the point and talk to something I didn't say instead of dealing with the substance of my reply. Does that quite a lot so I'm used to it. Not a biggie.

Both of them know it's obvious this woman is not "1,000 times better" than Jimmy Page. I have no need to prove anything whether they will admit this was their point in the first place or not.

By the way, I'd probably rather listen to Nag than Page at this time in my life also. Doesn't mean I'm unable to objectively measure and compare their relative talent and impact...but whatever.

peace!

LOL!!!

Ted, are you referring to when i changed the subject talking about Andy Timmons or when i discussed musicians i've hired? Maybe it was when i was talking about my band?

Perhaps you were referring to when i brought up Joseph's lack of skill and amateur status...or when i started talking about my skills and my inability to play gtr fast????

oh wait...that wasn't me "changing the subject"...THAT WAS YOU!!!!

time for YOU to bring some of that "intellectual honesty" you're always carping about, ted.

c'mon, man...i can see the relationship and relevance of all those things to the conversation at hand. same for all the things i talked about in this thread.

and you claiming otherwise....that's either really poor comprehension on your part (another of your pet moves that you like to level at others) or it's YOUR weak attempt at sidestepping w a silly debating tactic.

sorry, but i don't recall suddenly going off topic and discussing Cleveland's chances against Golden State!

nice try ted, but that's a swing and a miss. now, get back to us all in cpl of wks w your "imitation". :D

Didn't Van Eps pioneer the 7 string guitar??
A great player!! I use to listen to him from time to time.
OK- I just read this in the credits, so never mind. Thought I remembered reading about this back when I was really getting into his work.

yep. he brought the idea to Epiphone and they built it for him back in the late '30's or early '40's i believe. he referred to his style as "lap piano"! later in the mid '60's Gretsch came out w signature George van Epps 7 string model which i guess is the first mass produced 7 string.

next to take up the 7 string mantle was Bucky Pizzarelli. for some reason the jazz cats tune the low one down to "A" (an oct below the 5th string) and not "B" as one might expect ( "B" keeping the perfect 4ths thing going between the strings )

When Page came to the edge of the stage (Providence Civic Center, Song Remains the Same tour, 1973), he was about 40 feet from where I sat/stood.
After seeing and hearing him play live, I didn't pickup a guitar for a week - never would get to that level. Of course I was also deaf in my right ear for a week!
