I've heard about a half dozen of your tunes.
Nothing you have produced so far, even utilizing what you consider the best musicians,
would lead me to suspect you could ever produce anything I would want to listen to, much less pay to suffer through it.

I really wasn't trying to start a fight, and I'm not bragging when I say what the lady was doing isn't that tough to imitate. That's not even relevant to the point of this thread though. You are faster than anyone he has shown us.

But I won't lie to myself like he obviously does. There is an objective measure for talent and Page is objectively one of the greatest of all time. Whether someone likes his playing is subjective, and it's fair to hate on him for that....but there is enough documented to show that Page isn't just some run-of-the-mill musician that an old lady in India can compete with.

Does this sound like 'under-rated' to you??

First of all that isn't what I claimed. I said I could imitate what she did in that song you posted.

They were good players, but you're trying say they are more capable on a stringed instrument than Jimmy Page and that's just silly. Mandolin kid was pretty amazing but bending one big string on hugely wide frets with an instrument in open tuning is not a challenge for anyone who can play guitar.

I seriously can't figure out why you think that would be hard to imitate? The lead guitar part in Stairway to Heaven is much more challenging, with twists and turns on several strings at once. Egads!

but it is VERY difficult to play authentically.

I agree, but with enough practice imitation can be achieved by a determined person.


If the guy can play then I apologize for assuming he can't...but I got that from him, and only he could prove otherwise.

If this is just Vinny in another advent, then he knows that I respect eastern music. I've said several times that I think it will someday soon be at the forefront of world pop music.

But he used a poor example of virtuosity if he's trying to claim that lady is better than Page. Page could imitate her....she could never imitate Page.

interesting conversation, but how was I to know people would be so set in their beliefs about whether Page is genuine and under-rated..
