The kid on the mandolin was the most talented I've seen of the "droners in harmonic minor 6th keys" that you've presented. The guitarist played faster than I have since about aged 19. (It's just easier to hire someone that fast in Texas)

They have no variety, very little speed, play every song in one key all the way through...They are ok. With just a little practice on sitar, even I can drone in an open tuning like that, so no disrespect intended if you really prefer this music but c'mon....really?

None of them can touch Page as an innovator, and from what I can tell, they are all doing covers written by someone else. They seem to be very good imitators of what came before them, maybe even expanding the genre? Hard to tell since it all sounds like an intro for a trippy Beatles song.

I have a Persian guy that plays Tar with me, Yaron Cherniak, and he's much better than what you've shown me so far. Come to Grantham Pennsylvania on July 8th if you'd like to see.

Back to the point....no one, but no one, touches Page for creativity and foresight in the genre Zeppelin has ruled since 1970. Period.

I challenge you or anyone else here to name a rock guitarist (or any electric genre) BEFORE Page who could approach his ability and his musical/professional genius. Buddy Holly, Hendrix, or John Lennon are the closest, btw.

Page haters are doing so subjectively, but there is an objective truth that can't be denied when you just look at the facts of history.

OK, now show me this guy playing Chopin or blues or inventing Metal. There is a reason why Jimmy Page was the highest paid session guitarist in England before starting the New Yardbirds.

And your Dunning-whatsisname comment? Bluster and baloney.

If anything, it is you who fails to recognize the ability of Page.

You don't need a sitar to back up your claim https://youtu.be/AKTpjws2L98 ... so ok, lets see you drone like this on your guitar, (Mita Nag does similar in the second and third part of the raga she played)

The nag has a good style but she was slower than either of the kids you showed. Yes, I DID watch the whole thing and really enjoyed it. Yet, that would be easy to copy with enough time. She's only bending very long strings on very wide frets. Why do you think that is so hard to imitate?

The kid would take much longer for me to get up to speed, if at all. I stopped trying to be fast when I realized it was easier to hire someone who spends all their time practicing to be fast.

I get paid very well to play my own music. I hire some of the greatest musicians on earth to play on my recordings. If you want me to play something for you that requires practice, I'll be happy to do that once your check has cleared the bank. Two week of practice will cost you 8k. I'll knock 20% off if you pay in cash.

Let me know when you're ready.

Either you are a liar, or just delusional about your abilities.
That's Dunning–Kruger effect.

You're the delusional one if you think droning in the same key all day compares to the extremely wide experience of Jimmy Page.

And I'm happy to take your hollow challenge when you pay for my time. There is a reason why I've been a professional musician since 1977, and on the road 300 days of a year since 2005.

the drone artists seem to have one genre of music down fairly well, but yet, I do not find them adept at other stylings genres of music like Page was.. Page was a lot more well-rounded musician..listen to "Song Remains The Same" listen to the orchestration with the many faceted sections of music.. listen to "Black Dog" the outro with the 2 octave string bends and ghost bends?.. listen..listen..listen to "Over The Hills and Far Away" listen to the contrast between the chiming acoustic intro and the heavy electric guitar harmonic guitar parts.. Brown Bomber.. when I hear one of those "Oriental" players do something other than a continuous drone with a flourish asthe icing on the cake I will start to give it more thought.. :D  :!: :|
