And it's also wrong to judge anyone by what came after them. Has she radically changed sitar music from now on? I doubt it, but there simply was no one in the world who was in the same league as Page when he blazed the trail that set a standard for rock guitar which wasn't there before..

Well, she probably does have a nicer sitar than what paperdog got, since she is 6th generation sitar player, learned from her father & grandfather since the age of 4. They probably couldn't afford a guitar and a piano, but being such a backwards and heathen people they don't really miss'em all that much.

This guy plays that droney stuff on a standard acoustic guitar ... surely nothing you couldn't do, ... can't wait to hear you do that Yod!
No special equipment needed! :D

... of course that kid did not radically change the course of music on his instrument ... S. Balachander did that.

yeah but, can she bow a guitar like Page or play a theremin? or a bodhran :D

a phenomenon of Page-haters has existed since the beginning.. maybe a bad choice of words, since they really don't hate Page, but basically put down his creativity.. I think Page has even suggested in a Melody Maker interview that he knows his fingerpicking technique" is a cross between Merle Travis and total incompetence" I have Hammer of The Gods somewhere, might go look up some of the mystique he was surrounded by.. I think I recall he was under death threats because they hated his guitar playing so much.. I think creativity trumps technique though.. :)

I love me some Led Zep, but underrated? No.
I listened to all their stuff a lot for years, favorite was The Song Remains The Same soundtrack. Then the BBC double disc was released. Then the DVD with Knebworth and that stuff. Then the How The West Was Won 3 disc live set. Then the Song Remains with bonus material. The final thing I bought before getting back into indie rock was the Celebration Day reunion set. It's actually pretty good. John Paul Jones is flawless. Jimmy Page is kinda sloppy (sounds to me like he's struggling to get umph and feedback from a sterile U2 type rig). Plant did surprisingly well for an aged high pitched singer. My only problem is Jason Bonham. Clearly got the gig based on his name. They could have really smoked with a qualified drummer who could have aced an audition.

This is the guy, Davey Graham, along with Bert Jansch, credited with directly influencing Page's "White Summer" that morphed into "Black Mountainside"
