While that was a really cool video, you have overstated her ability if you think she could touch Jimmy Page.

First of all, there is nothing she is doing that I couldn't do with a couple of weeks practice on that instrument, and I'm no Jimmy Page. It's just droning in a single key with a bunch of (really cool) string bends.

And it's also wrong to judge anyone by what came after them. Has she radically changed sitar music from now on? I doubt it, but there simply was no one in the world who was in the same league as Page when he blazed the trail that set a standard for rock guitar which wasn't there before.

Hendrix had the talent but Page put the whole package together with the world's greatest rock band, management, Showco sound & light company, record company, distribution, etc....heck they owned their own jet!?! His manager, Peter Grant set the standard for how bands get paid for merch and concerts that still stands.

Page is/was brilliant like no one had been before, or since, actually. There is a reason why they have produced the most enduring rock albums in history, even considering the Beatles.

However, since there are thousands who would consider Page the greatest rock guitarist of all time, he can hardly be under-rated.

I learned how to play that tune a long, long time ago, Dane.
It's in DADGAD which makes it more Celtic than Eastern.

Jimmy Page is over-rated in my book. The outro solo on Black Dog made me want to play guitar in '71 but I quickly learned most of his tricks. Most of his stuff is butt simple to play.
I'll give him one thing. I believe he is the most underrated producer of all time. I'm still scratching my head over some of the tones he got in the studio.

John Scofield??? He is the JSB of guitar in my opinion. That dude ripped into a solo number one night when I was standing 5 feet from him and he BLEW MY MIND. 8)

Different strokes...........

that is called a D modal tuning ..the sound when played open is the sound of a suspended 4th chord.. I LOVES suspended 4ths :D

hey jook, read the Memphis post and give your ok if you feel alright about it.. I have no qualms about it, you did play percussion on the track so I guess you would be a co-writer? :)

I have always maintained any thing I do is a work in progress, and is an "outline" for further embellishment and when that stage comes in which all involved as the creators of the composition want to have it recorded in a real studio like a Record Plant or similar quality recording studio, then fine, but I would like to hear what "ready" has come up with , and then you can destroy it, but I am keeping my copy in case you never get around to re-recording it, I know there are flaws in it on my end too, but I am not freeting about it cause there was no more than 2 takes on anything you hear on it.. and if I was a true engineer I could go punch in and out real quick deleting those little flaws, but it's the basic meat and potatoes of it, and it's all there..
