I like almost everything about your musical arrangements, Mike. The vocals get on my nerves though. You have them really high in the mix and always seem to go to the same harmonies in your choruses. Just my 2 cents. The cello actually sounds great on this track and the four bars at the beginning without it is the perfect way to go.

Everyone hears things differently. Folks over at the homerecording forums mostly didn't like the keyboard-cello, and drums need to come up in the mix. What do you use for listening?
As to the harmonies - classical theory training, I use the 3rds, 5ths and octaves depending on where the lead vocal is.

I use $100 sennheiser headphones. I just think I hear the same thing from song to song. Why does every chorus have a harmony? They don't need it. Just an opinion.

I have found that with any headphones, the vocals (and anything in the mid-frequency range) that is center-panned sounds louder. Take the same mix, and listen in your car and you'd be surprised at the change.

The May 4 mix is history. Retracked lead vocals yesterday, and tweaked a bunch of stuff in the overall mix:

Admin seems to have gone to sleep (or is just ignoring my reports about Willie).

Finally remembered to whip it out at the last rehearsal (P-Guy progression 2.0  ). Did 3 variations on it, the first two of which I forgot I was tuned to D standard, so it's actually Em/ F/ G.

Been busy chopping it up and getting it ready for a keyboard part. I've been saying that for 7 months on various projects. Better follow through this time or become that guy. :D
