Well, since no one has brought this up i'll toss it out there.

How's about we take another stab at seeing what kinds of different approaches and takes folks might come up w another chord progression?

Here's a little three chord bit i was messing with earlier. Fear not jook...no Maj7 chords!!!

What about this for the "A" section or verse..... // F#m7 / G A // (rinse, repeat as needed)

And let's say everyone comes up w their own B sections, bridges, etc. As for feel/genre? your choice.

That's it? F#m7 - G - A - seems a little pedestrian!

well, perhaps so if you're just chunking root/fifth diads on the two low strings. when you play it w "bigger" chords...then the fun starts. and coming up w melodies and hooks gets a bit more interesting.

i've come up w a few decidedly NON pedestrian ideas for other sections. i COULD be persuaded to share 'em but thought it might be fun to leave that to others! 8)

Excited to try this again. We have the band meeting up every weekend or so (in some incarnation).
A little pedestrian? Maybe on first glance. Yes, actually I came up with this exact same progression 8 years ago when I started getting back into playing with a drummer again. Not a horrible thing, though. Just a coincidence.

I wouldn't recognize a Bjork song if it hit me in the head with a sledge hammer. Aren't Bjorks those cyber aliens on Star Trek 'resistance is futile!'

Congrats on your son's upcoming nuptials.

Whoa. Bigger chords?? I thought the progression was F#m7>G>A?
What is your concept of "bigger chords"?? Stacking harmonies w/ 1 or 2 other instruments playing OVER these 3 chords?

I'm in, BTW but I don't want to be called out by a blind umpire!!
(BTW- I'M PULLING YOUR LEG, MARK)
Speaking of leg, I hope you're doing o.k.!!

Get out the rule book. We need an official ruling here.

bigger chords= more than just root/fifth chunking....though that's fine too if anyone chooses that route \,,,/

i'm still on blood thinners for the clot in my leg and i'm still walking around w a broken bone in my foot (same leg). sadly (or maybe it's a good thing) my playing schedule won't allow me to get in for surgery for another 6 wks. grrrrrrrrr.

"rule book"??? i dunno...remember to brush after meals? put the toilet seat down afterwards? never kick your dog?

Mike- she is a BEAUTIFUL singer and a VERY talented artist from Iceland. She's been on the scene for quite some time. I remember the first time I saw here. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was on Johnny Carson's Show. She is into the avant-garde and isn't everyone's cup of tea but she is VERY talented.

She is getting older and she doesn't show it. She still looks very young and sings with a very tender, young voice. I'll give her a LOT of credit. She avoided the celebrity trap and rarely gives interviews and lives a very simple, secluded and peaceful life.

a few yrs back i was playing in an original r&r band and we were looking for a female vocalist. this gal came out for an audition....and she was.....uh, to put it delicately...a big woman. very pretty though. and she had a very unusual singing style and interesting accent. (i'm a sucker for wimmins w accents). after she sang a few (she was very good) she mentioned that Bjork was her aunt. could have been total BS but i believed her.

though she was quite good, we ended up going w another gal who auditioned and was the bee's knees! it was a fun little band and we did some interesting stuff. i got to switch off bass and gtr w a cuban lady who was just a killer musician on every instrument she touched. those damn cubans! at the risk of stereotyping....every cuban i've played with has been a top notch player. must be sumptin in the water.

Lucky that you can look forward to a 'retirement' date! I turn 60 in a couple of weeks, but can't even dream of looking at retirement. I married a younger woman, thinking she could support me in my old age - HAH!
