Not coming along. I must have listened to a rough take without bass or something. The version Jook put up is smokin.

I could try another song. Just take a while. I mean a long time. I mean forever.

I need to have projects lined up for when the guys can't make it to practice. Problem is, the guys have been showing up for practice. Good problem to have.

Ooh! Got my size? :D

But I was in my late 20s-early 30s and I had the stamina to do it back then. That kind of schedule would surely kill me if I tried it @ my age now.

I wish. I can't even get my neighbors who play to do one Jam session.

My guitarist comes out from Peoria, AZ (40 minute drive, one way).

I was thinking it was sooner. 42nd b-day this week. :?

ahhhh. you old farts need to quit yer whining! there's few things i can't do better now than when i was in my 20's and 30's.....well, i can't mix it up under the boards quite as ferociously as i did when i was younger, but i can still knock down the medium range jumper and i'm still deadly from the corner! 8)

Assuming we're still talkin' bout the same tune... Fixed the pitch thing easy enough, but the "erratic tempo" is another matter. Just can't hit a consistent groove. Maybe you need one of them metrosexual gnomes (metro gnomes, for short) to hang out @ your place. I got one a few years ago, and every time I miss a beat, it bites me on the ankle. Thought about gettin' some Frye boots, but playing in time was the cheaper option. Hurts like hell, but I rarely miss a beat anymore. Just a thought...

the pitch and erratic tempo are in place to see who the genuine musicians are that can follow my lead.. :)

Dunno from genuine musicians--I just play the piano. And like I was telling Jook, Kevin Cronin had it backwards: it's actually much easier to tuna fish than to tune a piano. So I made it true-to-pitch. But I'll need to play it quite a few times to get on board w/ that pacing. It's almost imperceptible when you just listen to it, but when you try to play it... Just when it feels like you're in the pocket, it shifts. Were there special libations or chemical enhancements involved?

oh, if I had it charted for you, you would be able to see the ritardando symbol somewhere at 17 sec. to 24 sec. with a fermata, and a ritardando symbol at 48 sec. to 52 sec. ..

here is some helpful musical tempo lingo:

Changing Tempo
A piacere Tempo is at the pleasure or discretion of the performer. The same as ad libitum. Similar to rubato except rubato is the discretion of the conductor.
Accelerando (accel.) Quickening; a gradual speeding up of the tempo
Ad libitum Tempo is at the discretion of the performer. The same as a piacere. Similar to rubato except rubato is the discretion of the conductor.
Alla breve Duple time with a half note as the unit; same as Cut time
Allargando (allarg.) Broadening; sometimes interpreted as a combination of ritardando and crescendo
ancora Still more; used generally with tempo indications, as ancora meno mosso (still more slowly)
A témpo In tempo; reestablishes original speed after accelerando or ritardando
Cédez French for poco ritardando; a slight holding back
Come Prima As at first
Come Sopra As above; much the same as come prima
Doppio movimento Twice as fast; usually used in conjunction with Common time changing to Cut time
L'istesso tempo
Lo stesso tempo The same tempo, indicating that the beat remains constant when the meter changes as 2/4 to 6/8
Meno mosso
Più lento Less motion; slower. May be qualified by poco (a little less)
Più allegro
Più animato
Più mosso faster
pressez French term for "quicken"; same meaning as accelerando
Rallentando (rall.) Same as ritardando; a gradual slowing-down of the tempo
Ritardando (ritard.) Slowing down; a gradual holding-back of the tempo
Ritenuto (riten.) Frequently confused with ritardando; means a sudden slowing-down, in contrast to the gradual holding-back of rallentando
Rubato Litterally, to "rob" or steal the time values by holding-back or speeding up at will to color a phrase
stringendo (string.) Pressing forward; sometimes erroneously interpreted as a combination of accelerando and crescendo
tempo giusto In strict tempo (non-rubato)
tempo primo (tempo I°) Original tempo
trattenuto (tratt.) Holding back (same as rallentando) with the addition of a sustained quality (sostenuto)

just because I said "erratic tempo" I did bot mean to imply it was a mistake.. but who knows, to some "musicians" ears it might be considered that?

ok, I am going to repeat myself for maybe the 10th time.. when I post rough drafts of tunes I have composed and performed, they are not meant for collaborative "projects" capiche? that is not to say if you want to dick around with it for shits and grins.. that is perfectly acceptable, and I am additionally not asking for critiques on anything either?..capiche? they are only put up as I have said before to entice live musicians with an actual corporeal body to move to Half Way, Mo. within driving distance to then go ahead and ARRANGE the original tunes to fit the musicians at hand.. I am not charting anything for anybody, simply because they are not in a concrete form yet, with a drummer added it might completely change the whole song format!.. with a keyboard player added there will be much more SPARSE guitar music no doubt.. if I play bass and a guitarist relocates here to put together a band to play live shows/events for money, (not free shows) then no doubt the tunes you are hering now might not even be close to what they sound like now.. we will make adjustments according to the talent that is assembled.. don't make me repeat this for the 11th time.. :) :P :|

and me relocating to Tampa or wherever is not really that much out of the question, if you want me to come visit and meet, and play a little music together to see if there is any chemistry, and then go from there, if I am rubbing you the wrong way, or you suss out my musical abilities are not up to snuff for your particular musical needs, that is 100% alright too.. I got to vacation for a couple days minimum and perhaps experience something I will remember for my remaining years..
I actually met some very good musicians living in a rooming house in Cameron Village (Raleigh, N.C.) a Tzigane Tzinsadamset a real gypsy who played accordion all over the U.S. (mainly Cleveland and Houston) and also Raleigh supper clubs, he come up every winter from Myrtle Beach to play his contracted gigs and also worked on the side at a pawn shop downtown Raleigh.. he was also a real medium hired by the Myrtle Beach police department to find missing persons.. Amazing Randi go eat your heart out, this dude was the real thing cause I got to see his newspaper clippings scrap book with my own eyes..
back on topic.. Brent Price also from Raleigh come over once on a motorcycle and once on a Greyhound to play music with me, he knew I was not a slouch at all.. we did country music.. I Got You by Shennandoah, Miami, My Amy by Keith Whitley etc.... found this post card from Zigro dated 11/11/1992, he wanted me to keep gigging , gigs were easy to get in Raleigh..but, he passed away shortly after this post card was sent, so he never made it to Missouri to visit..
